I also had a similar case with my 4 year old cow last year. She reduced her feed intake, got thinner, showed some bloating signs and eventually stopped eating and passed on. Postmortem showed she had taken in a 7 cm piece of wire which then pieced into the gut section between the reticulum and omasum, causing a swelling and blockage with lots of pus formed. All peristaltic abdominal movements had virtually stopped by the time of her death.
