Bull sale

Went to a bull sale today in NE South Dakota. A well known Angus breeder who offered 50 yearling bulls at auction. The top bull brought $26,000, and second high seller brought $23,000. Many of the lesser bulls were in the $5,000 - $10,000 range. Some of the younger, smaller bulls in the $2500 - $5000 area. All in all, I would guess that the sale averaged around $5000. The breeding stock market is on fire around here. There is another sale on Monday, with Angus and Simmental bulls being offered. I plan to attend that one too.

Another bull sale yesterday. 70 Angus yearlings averaged $4239, and 70 yearling black Simmentals averaged $4436. Excellent quality bulls, and they could have sold a lot more. Top Angus brought $16,500, and top Simmental brought $9000. Looks like I've been selling my bulls way too cheap!
