I have heard this mentioned here, looked it up on the abbreviations page. Is this preventable? Or is it just treatable after the fact?

It is preventable and it is treatable after the fact.

To prevent it you start with goats that have been tested and are negative. (That is not a 100% guarantee that a goat will not get CAE but is the best you can do.)
