He's trying (very)...

I put him in his day crate just so I could visit the bathroom, and only threw one of the latches. I suddenly heard Caleb crying in pain, and I rushed back to a dog with his snout caught in the crate door, held tight like as in a trap.

He now has a contused nose.

I'm such a bad Mom...
He'll learn....

Lesson learned! As I call it, a correction from God. ;)

We had a good Thanksgiving, thank you.

I tried to tire out Caleb with lots of walks, but he apparently got too stimulated on his first full day here. After dinner he started acting up, so he went into Time Out (day crate). Meltdown ensued, yipping, and I walked out, away. He barked for about 15 minutes. Once he calmed down I came back into the room, took him for a bedtime walk (8:30?) and we both went to bed by 9. :gig

This morning about 5am I heard Debbie (house cat) give a tiny mew outside my bedroom, then heard the creak of the door. I patted the bed, and felt her land. She sat at the foot of the bed for a while, watching Caleb in his crate. He remained quiet. I went back to sleep. She was gone when I got up.

Later, when I went to take Caleb outside I noticed she was by the door, on the dryer. I got on my coat, leashed Caleb, and steered him past her without him aware of her presence.

To reduce stimulation I crated Caleb while I went outside to feed chickens, wild birds, outside kitties. Barking ensued, but he quieted down before I returned, 10 minutes later.

Everyone here knows to ignore noisy pup.

He heard Debbie mew, just now, sat up, attentive, then laid back down.

It will work out, I am fairly certain.
