Can I change to once a day milking?

I have been milking twice a day since March..... My doe is going to the breeder in October and I will have to go over there and milk her. I have heard of others milking once a day and since it is so far to the breeders, I was thinking about doing that. Is it ok to milk only once a day and what is the best way to decrease the milking?

I recently bought a doe in milk. She has been milked since March. The old owners milked her twice a day. I have no time to milk in the mornings so when she came to my house I had to go "cold Turkey" and milk her just once a day in the evenings. She adjusted very well and we had no problems. She still gives me lots of milk. I was honestly surprised how easy she switched from twice a day to once a day. I may not have done it the right way, but it worked for me. Hopefully someone with more experience can tell you if there is a way to ease her into it.

Cold turkey works great for most does just start milking once a day if she looks engorged between milkings you can milk out just enough to relieve her until the next scheduled milking

We just did. During the summer, we milked twice a day but once school started up (I teach,) we cut them back to one milking per day, but we did it by doing the first milingr later and later each day over the course of the week. It helped them to not get too uncomfortable and gave their bodies a chance to begin producing less milk. They did yell at me a bit, but no problem now. Still have more than enough milk to go around too.
