I got the new perimeter fence up & the gates made. Once I attached the fence to the gate posts, the 'tension' of the fence pulled them just enough that there's a rather large gap between them.
Maybe a rachet strap tomorrow to stretch the fence a bit....
Wrist is sore & I got slapped across the mouth with a big green briar while cutting one of the old fence pieces free.
Tomorrow is going to be cleaning up & trying to make it pretty-ish.

Sis came over for lunch & we ended up watching a movie, so very little chicken yard work got done.
Did level up the gates & put a piece of the fencing along the bottom of each gate to keep them from just walking out.
Hard to get fencing to show up in picts.

Grass in the new area, bare soil in the old one.

Gates. Cattle panel cut in half & stood on ends.
Pict was before leveling & chicken proofing the bottom.

Handy-dandy DIY T-post to cattle panel gate hinge. Working really well. Once I raised them half a brick off the ground, the gates swing freely.
I wanted 2 gates because for years I've just had a couple of clips holding the ends of fence sections together & it was a mess when I needed to get in or out with my hands full - tripping over the sagging wire... Or, trying to open it wide enough to drag a tarp of leaves in without ripping the tarp up or the fence down. The left one will stay put until I need a larger opening, then it will easily go from 4' to 8'.

Some days a day off is worth it!!! 😊. Good movie? 🤫

The chickens don't care.... :lol: what didn't get done will be waiting for your "next time". 🤷We won't tell.:hide
She had never seen Tangled. So we had brisket sandwiches, big'ol salads & carrot cake - snuggled my cats (they LOVE movies because that means laps for 2+hours) and watched Disney+.

paraphrased from a podcast I was listening to:

Why do I always feel like I need to
justify work around my farm?
Why do I feel that some things
are 'ok' but others are extravagant?
When I make some change or adjustment
and I say "That's good enough",
am I really saying, in my inner self
'That doesn't deserve any better'?
Do I secretly, inside my heart, put it down
for not being perfect or expensive or valuable to the world?
When I do something for my animals
and feel the need to justify WHY they should 'need' that,
why is 'Because I am able to provide it'
never the answer that comes to mind?
And when I make the same choices for myself
that I do for my animals;
food, shelter, companions, routine;
and I find myself thinking "That's good enough"
has the ME inside has been hearing

'That's all you deserve"?
