No dairy includes:
  • Cow's milk
  • Cream cheese
  • Cottage cheese
  • Ice cream
  • Sherbet
  • Whipped cream
  • Non-dairy creamer (even just one!)
  • Cool whip
The last two say non-dairy, but they do have some.

I can occasionally eat a spoonful of ice cream.

Butter is okay.

Yogurt is sometimes okay, not 100%.

White chocolate is sometimes okay.

I can eat hard cheese, like Colby, Havarti, American, etc.

What does all that mean? I don't know, so I just avoid dairy.

I'd be hard pressed to have to go non dairy because I like milk & all it makes. Always have been a big milk drinker ☺️ some people are not, my DD isn't.

Nice that you know it's an issue for you & control it.

Chicken salad. I use cubed chicken. Can’t stand shredded chicken with piles of mayonnaise, it looks like dog vomit. I like chunks of whatever it is so I can see what I’m eating, not mangled mush that looks like it’s already been eaten once and given back. That goes for potato salad too, not cold mashed potatoes, chunks of potatoes!

Chicken salad. Season and bake the chicken, cut into chunks. Celery, grapes cut in half. Chopped sweet pickles, walnuts or pecans or both. I use Miracle Whip as a binder. But you can’t use that. Why not make your own mayonnaise using your own eggs? Buy a small bottle of olive oil.

@Lilac The Cow, I drink raw goat milk, make cheese, etc. Had goat cheese & fresh figs on a toasted English muffin just a few min ago. Breakfast. Have dairy goats & milk daily. It's cost effective & healthy for me. Excellent milk. :drool :D =D

I'm going to refrain from any major reaction... but please tell me what antibiotics are fed routinely to chickens that produce eggs for the store or for restaurants? They are not just routinely fed antibiotics... but are used to treat diseases in the birds when necessary. And the practice is to deliver treatment through water sources as it is more effective, quicker response and then can be stopped faster. The old practices of feeding chickens or hogs routinely with feed additives or antibiotics have been pretty much stopped... Old labels of chicken feed would include some arsenilic acid which was used as an appetite stimulant getting birds to eat more and they gained faster... it has long been banned as a feed additive.

How are Amish baked goods more safe?

"Softened butter"..... made from cows milk ? Or do you specially get butter from sheep or goat milk? Feta is made from sheep and/or goat's milk ... so no dairy from cows milk?

I get not eating things with "high fructose corn syrup".... I try to limit it in my diet...

I read a lot, and when I have a problem I tend to read more. I started getting GI issues from eating eggs, whether store-bought or at a restaurant. I stopped eating them except if I forgot about it, and then would have the same GI issue. A few years ago a coworker offered me a carton of eggs from her backyard chickens, and I had NO reaction to eating them. I tried eating the "no antibiotics" eggs from Aldi's, no issues. When I started eating eggs from my own flocks I had no issues.

So, there appears to be something about commercial eggs that upsets my GI system. Since I am allergic to just about every antibiotic available, and I have read about commercial practices, I surmised that it might be antibiotics given to the chickens that was the problem.

The "Amish" ingredients labels are simple, what I would use if I were making the product myself, so I feel more confident that it will not upset me.

The butter I eat is unsalted sweet butter, and it does not bother me. Most cow products bother me. I don't know why, lactose intolerant maybe. I base what I eat from what agrees with my body.

ETA: when I stopped eating food that contained corn my sinus headaches and congestion stopped, totally. If I accidentally eat something containing corn I get sinus congestion, and usually a headache. I wonder if it's what they spray on it, glyphosate?
