Oh boy! I walked in at a good time!

Good afternoon all! :frow
Couldn't sleep this morning so got up and started the day way early. Trying to find beet pulp right now has been a challenge that's been dragging on. Apparently what I feed to the dairy cows has been out of stock for over a month now and is still out of stock with no idea of when it will return. Ordered a more expensive brand (Standlee) that was a lighter bag and I was under the impression it was just beet pulp. When it arrived I noticed the "First ingredient is beet pulp" in big bold print. Um.... It was supposed to only be beet pulp so why that statement..... Fed it and one of the two jerseys said "OH heck naw!" and walked away from her grain completely. Well darn it. That tells me there's something different so I contacted the company I ordered from. They explained that there is "concentrated separator byproduct" as the second ingredient but couldn't tell me what that was. They refunded my order but now I'm struggling to find just beet pulp for the milkers. It's a big part of their ration and keeps one of the two from getting an upset tummy with the grain ration. Found out Tractor Supply carries the brand I normally buy but has shreds only in stock with molasses. I don't care about added molasses because it's good for the cows anyways. They are also out of stock everywhere of what I normally buy. So I got a couple bags they had of the shreds (turns out it's cheaper than the pellets anyways) and the picky princess ate her grain just fine last night. Plus the shreds re hydrate really quickly which is nice. Knowing there is some sort of shortage going on with beet pulp I asked the store which other stores had any in stock. Ended up going 35 minutes and picking up 2 more bags. Last night I set out online trying to find more. Found 3 more stores who I could order online with and the shipping was cheaper than the fuel it would take me to drive there so I ordered everything I could get. Who knows how long this out of stock will last and I'm adding another jersey to the rations soon so I need to keep something in stock. It was cheaper to order same day shipping than order it "get here when it can" so I ordered same day. One order of 4 bags showed up first thing this morning. Nice! Next order however the lady pulled in (saw her on camera) sat in her car then left. I texted the number that had text me and explained to come back (very nicely) and deliver where she had just left. She came back and I could tell on camera she had quite the attitude. I didn't watch and count the amount as I was trying to get up and get ready to go and figured she could handle 30# bags of feed. I message a thank you and off she went with no response. Get out to get the bags 20ish minutes later only to find I'm 1 bag short. No notification from TS or the shipper. Checked the camera and sure enough she didn't deliver the full order. Called the store and they went back on their footage and she did take the whole order and somewhere between there and here she "lost one". Apparently TS is using a subsidiary of UPS called "Roadie" to do their store deliveries and that's who these people are. Just random folks basically ubering on the side for UPS. After nearly 2 hours on the phone with some one who barely spoke english which really complicated things the driver admitted she had the 1 bag in her car and that she couldn't deliver it because she was already clocked in at her job. So much back and forth and on hold, sending delivery photos we got to the point of the driver saying she would deliver it at 8:30pm. What happens if she doesn't? I have to call back tomorrow and start the whole drama over again to get a refund. UGH! Called the store back and updated them but they said there's nothing they can do. Called TS corporate and spoke to a lovely man who said they've had so many complaints about this company and are trying to stop using them and delivery through their own stores employees. He refunded me the crazy shipping charge for the order and said he would follow up on all of this and if they don't deliver the last bag he would refund the whole order for our troubles. I told him that wasn't necessary just the one bag and that the majority of the order was delivered so refunding the entire shipping wasn't fair. He insisted for all the time on the phone. We'll see if it arrives tonight. Little miss attitude better be nice when she comes tonight. She ate up several hours of my day today trying to find a 30# $16.00 bag of feed she didn't deliver. How hard is it to count to 7?!?! :hide
Took the 16 foot stock trailer to the dump after picking up the order a few towns away of the beet pulp I couldn't get delivered. I went to two stores yesterday too. 2 bags here. 3 bags there. 2 bags here. :idunnoTaking that load to the dump was so refreshing. In probably somewhere around 50 dump runs in my life with this trailer this is only the 2nd load that's been our own stuff. It's always someone else's in the family. It felt so odd doing our own stuff. One step closer to leaving! Yahoo!!:celebrate:bunny:celebrate Probably one more load before this trailer goes home for good i'd think. We'll see how much trash we dig up in packing. We've worked for years now in prep to get things slowly into the trash can weekly so there's not a ton of stuff to haul off I don't think plus we have our 1 time a year driveway pile pickup still. Will take advantage of that since we pay for it either way.
At least now the small trailer is empty and I can take the old cow to auction. May take one more with her. We'll see how she does at calving.
DH is up so I guess I'd better go help him pack a bit more. I'm beet :)lol:Get it????) already from today's adventures but I'll push on for a bit longer. Maybe talk hubby into helping me feed before he goes to work and try and get to bed early tonight.
Hope y'all have a fantastic evening! :hugs

I want to hear how it went when they tried to milk Keith.
Well, well, well....loved the journal. Sooo goat-like 🤣 they are wonders of nature. Best fence checker ever!!! 😱😖

So I need to tell you 🤫🫣 there are bucks who produce milk. All bucks have teats, most do nothing but, in heavy milking lineages, there are cases of milk producing bucks. Not expected, not what you want to milk but there ya go!!

Now, I always thought...naaawwh. Looked it up. PLUS I actually owned one 😵‍💫 Beautiful Nubian. Got him at 3 yo, and he was a boy 6 when one day I saw something extra hanging. Strange. Yep. One had become filled...milk. Called my vet! We gave him some hormones, got things back to normal. Anyway, no I didn't put him on milk stand! He was almost 12 when he passed over.

Sorry you had all the drama. Customer service has gone down the drain with so many companies. I try to spend my money with businesses that still have SERVICE.

That's crazy, I've never heard of that! Especially lactation without having a baby. Learn something new every day

Yep I have heard of that. Just like my retired doe bagging up. No buck on the farm. Free milk!! I'll take it.
