Coffee anyone ?

It's almost time for town to shut down for a month before the summer tourism season. I think I like the idea of town shutting down again for a minute.
Weather is ok, we need the precipitation, but town can now survive without anymore snow if we at least get precipitation.
No idea what's coming this week for work, the next two days should be normal, and that's about all I know.

Morning all. Bottle lamb to the safe pen with the flock. I have been doing that daily but she overnights in her crate. Not ready for prime time just yet. Rackacoon surprised me with a lamb. I was thinking another month. Wasn’t looking for a bag yet. I’ll have to watch the other Racka ewes and Moses. Another day of chores and so on. Have a good day everyone.

Morning all! Windy and cooler here. Our Pagoda trees are supposed to finally be delivered today, I'll believe it when I see them...lol If the roots are dried out and they don't thrive the guy I ordered them from will send us some new trees. He should be able to recoup from USPS, since they were insured.

Better get moving! Have a lovely day everyone! ☀️🌺🌸🌻🐝☀️

Taking a break. Took Caleb out to the park early, about 8:30. There were a few walkers, but only saw two with dogs. I had him do long sit next to the trail where everyone passed by. He did well.

Lawnmower repair guy called, my Honda was ready, new blade and annual maintenance complete. He's good, and not expensive, worthy of his "hire".

Now that I had my mower I ran it around the coops, dumped the clippings inside much to the flocks' delight.

Cool down time.

Good afternoon all! :frow
Fed the new calves on the jersey heifer. She did great. Her calves had already nursed so that kept the new kids from getting too much. They have a bit of the runs today. Guessing from transport and milk changing. Treated with herbs for now. The beef heifer calved this morning. A lovely heifer calf. A future replacement is the hope. We bred her to have one. She's a bit spun up today but did really well otherwise. She should calm down again soon. Have her and the calf in the corral. When I found them the jersey heifer and the other cow were stealing her from her mom. Brought them both in so I can get a weight on the calf, treat her navel and get her tagged before turning them both out to pasture. She's nursing well and full of spunk. Pretty happy after the last heartbreak. Next beef cow to calve is due friday with a bull so probably pretty close to friday.
Having my first cup of coffee of the day. Can't believe we have two lactating jerseys and no milk/cream for the house right now. 🤦‍♀️😂 DH is a bit sarcastic about it. At least he got enough cream to make ice cream this past weekend. I keep telling him it's the price we pay for moving. We can either have milk/cream and have to milk or have enough calves to keep up and not have to milk so we can move. 🤷‍♀️I might bring in our older cow and separate the calves for 12 hours and milk so we can get some milk and cream. Won't hurt them to have less milk. They are plenty old enough. I could do that every few days and get stocked up a little bit. We'll see how much time these new calves take right now to take care of before the last heifer calves.
It's a beautiful day today so far in the 80's. Grass is growing nicely.
Y'all have a fantastic afternoon! :hugs

@drstratton those are some well traveled trees - frequent flier miles should add up! 🙃
Went out for brunch with friends - we've all probably known each other for 40 yrs. Where did that time go???
On the way home - just had to stop and say hi to the newest in the "neighborhood" -- the cattle ranch down our road....

I love it here. So quiet and peaceful. Land is beautiful. That and having the "kids" nearby keep me here. And being stubborn that I will fight CA trying to send everyone away with poor management in so many areas. There is a lot to like here, and the stuff to not like - all people junk (except for those damn rattlesnakes 😐).
