We are mean too. Our pets have rules and they are expected to follow them. On counters and specific furniture are a big no no.
Agreed here. Counters and kitchen tables are off limits, period. Caleb is not allowed on the furniture. IF, BIG IF he becomes well behaved he MIGHT be allowed on my bed. Debbie (cat) is allowed on my bed, on top of the covers, but she's very clean and well behaved.

Cats on kitchen counters and counter surfing dogs are a big NO. Thanksgiving at my sister's, her cats get on everything. My son in law who is VERY allergic to cats actually pulled cat hair out of his mouth. My sister is one of those clean freaks, but thinks it's ok for cats to walk all over the counter tops. I would knock those damn cats into next week. SLAM! No cats in my house, in fact, no cats here at all, they are on the Anatolian Menu. I wouldn't mind an outside cat, but I'd just be providing the dogs or coyotes a kitty snack.

Counter surfing dogs, nope. not here. Carson is a BIG boy and could easily reach anything he wants. I usually eat sitting in my recliner and can put my plate on the end table with a steak on it and walk off. He won't touch it, not even act like he wants to. Any bone he gets, he gets it at the door on his way out.

Coffee is ready. I'm going for my second cup. I've got jury duty this morning, gotta be there at 8:30. Like anything else here, it's 35 minutes away, so got to get outside and get chores done.

Two ewes lambed Saturday, both White Dorpers, a single and twins. I need to post pictures and get a 2026 lambing thread started.

Oh, I'm mean too. The minute I leave the kitchen, he's up there. And overnight too. We've found many a package of rolls, muffins, etc, downstairs in the area where our son lives.

My dogs obey me right away. Well, except when they are racing along the fence line barking at a dog being walked. For that I yell "Who wants dinner?" and they come right away. I say it every night when I'm ready to feed them. :D =D

Upper 50's and calm today, looks like it will be a little cooler tomorrow with rain, then back up probably hitting 60, crazy! Hubs is heading out to play golf and I'm going to visit with a friend for a bit. Then we'll be doing more bathroom demo when we get back home.

Time for tea in a very quiet house. 🫖☕🍯

Good afternoon all!
Been up for a bit. On my second cup of coffee.
Got a call from the insurance company trying to make heads or tails on our new policy. Turns out we AREN'T covered on the new house/property yet. WHAT?!?! Come to find out the gal who we've been dealing with up and left and didn't even tell us. On top of it apparently left a huge mess the agent is trying to make heads or tails of. That explains the lack of answers etc. So she was able to backdate the policy, fix it and get it submitted for payment from the mortgage company. On top of that she said the information on our vehicles insurance was 100% incorrect. So we don't have new coverage on our vehicles until they are transferred to MO.Makes sense but NOT what the previous gal told us. At least she was able to actually tell us right off not sound like she may not know what's facts. Had we dropped our insurance last friday as planned thinking the new coverage was active we'd have been in BIG trouble here. At least know we know. Now I just have to find out what can start being transferred to the new home vs must stay here for now. What I need to determine is if I should put full coverage and towing back on the vehicles as they are getting on the road so they have full coverage while driving 2000 miles back and forth. We had to drop from full coverage when our policy renewed because the prices skyrocketed. We dropped down to the least amount of coverage (PLPD) and our bill still went up. It's crazy high here. But it may be wise to put it back up at least on the rig I'm taking back and forth. Need to discuss that with my DH when he's up and get that taken care of.
Got the freeze drier loaded and running. Half a load of mashed potatoes and half a load of chicken stock. Cooked 8 pounds of ground beef already. Will pull more to cook up tomorrow. Trying to get meat ready to freeze dry along with mexican rice. May try and make some beans to freeze dry as well. We have plenty canned but would really like meals to just dump hot water in and eat. Thinking about making MRE's for traveling since I/we don't eat out. Will make some taco soup this week too. Not sure what else I'll make up yet. I have a pumpkin in the oven and hope to do a couple more tonight. No way I can get them finished but I'm shooting for completing 1/2 of what's left and finish the other half maybe tomorrow. Then I can get it freeze dried and done for the season. Then I'll pack the excess and get it moved. Also have cream out warming so I can make more butter. Need to get the butter I made yesterday into molds. Maybe at the same time as what I'm making today.
Can't think of anything else at the moment. Just trying to get some things done and ready to be packed.
Y'all have a great evening!

@RR Homestead -- You may want to check vehicle ins rates at new home address. Might be worth retag at new addy now .... You DO live there with it in your name now 🤔 just a thought. Take a day at new addy & change plates if rates prove to be better. Depending on insurer, they may cover both states. But DO shop rates!!

We have snow 🙄😖. With caution schools had been closed for today -- announced yesterday -- for some areas. Prob an inch out there, happened between 1 & 5 this afternoon. 29 with 19 feel like, so gonna be there tomorrow...prob closed then but haven't seen announcement. VDOT had brined roads yesterday, so they're not bad but, precaution. I have a half day of job work scheduled -- might move it to wed, once I see how things are tomorrow. They have a 2 wks performance date, so no biggie. Really it's just stocking candy -- not anything urgent!

We are trying to get that ll figured out. We thought we had vehicle insurance there now but found out today that wasn't the case. The issue is we don't technically live there yet. We need to find out the details on all that. We can't drop our CA licenses until we are mostly moved to MO but the sooner we get our vehicles registered there the better. Oh and rates are FAR better there than here for sure. That's why we thought we had it as part of a bundle with the insurance. Turns out we can't until they are registered there. They don't cover CA.

We just spoke to the sellers. The insurance company was stating the roof was 15 years old. The sellers said they had it done recently. So we reached out to see if they would be able to prove the roof was replaced recently. They already had it under control for us. Should be proven and fixed with insurance by mid week. Turns out they all go to church with the sellers. :celebrate I love small town living! Can't wait to be back to that lifestyle.
