Hello! My first time to the goat herd threads, but my husband made a very sporadic decision to come home with a bottle fed, week old buck. "Can we keep him? PLEASE?"....
We have sheep. We are bottle feeding the kid and plan to make it a whether. We are up in the Pacific Northwest and the weather has been in the 20's/30's and as low as - 2 overnight, though it looks like we are through the worst of it for now. Lots of snow on the ground. My sheep have access to the barn-ish type shed and it is fully enclosed with just a door entrance and lots of ventilation.
We have the kid in a brooder box with no heat lamp, and ranging the house between potties and naps. Bottle feeding every 3-4hrs. Is it too cold/young to transition it outside? It comes with me to do the barn chores and has mingled well with the ewes/lambs with no bullying so far.... Advice?
