The three alpacas I've had experience with were NASTY critters. I would go with sheep ;)

An alpaca probably wouldn't eat the hay, I'm not sure what would though. My alpacas kinda share a hay feeder with 1 goat and they all leave some of the hay uneaten

Alpacas need less copper than goats so I don't think they'd do well on goat food

Llamas and alpacas are like sheep in that they can't have the copper that goats need.

Alpacas are very picky eaters so there is no way they would eat the hay that goats left.

I don't know if sheep are better at eating any type of hay. Or maybe a miniature donkey.

Well that's important. hah I did not know that. Do you know how much? Wondering if it is around the sheep level or higher than their but lower than goats.
