Amy, what do your chickens do with the cow piles?? I'm thinking of letting mine free range in the paddock (not a very big range), and there's quite a bit of poo decorating it currently.

Chickens love cow pies as they can dig for undigested grain and any bugs in/around it.

lol are we really having a discussion on dropping consistency?

sometimes calves will poop out little pellets rather than a cowpie (look more like horse droppings). and sometimes cows will poop out flakes of poop into a pile (picture biscuits in a can). it has to do with the quality of forage as well as water intake.

i love this discussion!lol. so once cow patties are absolutely dried out u can pick em up for fuel?

In some areas of the world they mix the poop with straw and dried grass in boxes the size of a loaf pan and produce fuel bricks out of them. Apparently they burn for a long time this way.

There is a new business for some one. Produce poop pellets for stoves rather than wood pellets.


We all know it is a renewable resource. :D
