Lost another hen today. I'm afraid it was my friendliest Aquila. I couldn't tell for sure, so I will need to take a close look at who's left. Didn't really have time to confirm, we had some work to get done while it was nice out. I'm pretty sure it was a hawk. That's only the 2nd time I've lost a hen to a hawk since we built their new pen in 2020.

Lost another hen today. My gray Easter Egger. Saw the hawk fly out of the trees when I went out to check on them this afternoon. 🙁

We're going to string/criss-cross some thin rope and hope that will deter it.

I might have to lock them into the enclosed pen for awhile.I hope we won't need to do that. Regardless, I will be closing them in tonight.

NOOOO !!! Not another one. Sounds like your place has become the Kentucky Fried stop for some predator.
At our old place once the coyotes learned there was juicy free food we had to "Fort Knox" our chickens, no more free ranging for the "free drive through" :(
