Just wanted some second opinions, Una, our pygmy is keeping me guessing again! She is heavily pregnant, this will be her 2nd freshening. I have her calendered to kid on Saturday but I run my buck all year long. I feel confident doing this because I only have 5 does and I am out there for hours every single day with them. I have yet to miss anyone's heat this season...so I think lol Either way I am prepared and ready to go whenever.

She started bagging up six weeks ago, and now her udder is larger than at her peak last year! But with roughly only two days left I can still feel very hard ligaments and she does not seem to be loosening up in the vulva area. I can feel very active kids in her belly too. She is having normal clumpy pregnancy poops, not wormy, just squashed together like most my girls toward the very end.

Last year she did not bag up as a ff until 2 days before and her vulva never did look looser. Shouldn't her ligaments be getting progressively softer, they did last year. Can I still expect her to kid within the week or do ya'll think I missed a heat?

Uhhhhhh....you expect a goat to "go by the book"??:lol:

Yep, I agree 3 days or 3 weeks. Looking, not feeling, I would lean more toward 3 days but, don't tell her.

One of mine was in same guessing mode but, yesterday AM she dropped twins....I did not see as heavy a bag the night before but, within hrs of kidding the "almost tight" bag got huge & tight. Some can fool you!

This one was our first, and she always seems to be doing something that blows my mind! Lol I wouldn't even be second guessing myself but she has the quietest heat I've ever seen, almost sneaky. She is my ninja goat.

So you think that her ligaments could go from pencils to mush pretty quickly?

I would say it'll be a surprise. :idunno But if her ligaments got steadily softer day by day last year, I would lean towards a missed heat.
However, I must say these pictures made me laugh a bit. My second freshener doe is the size your doe is now... with two months to go.

:( the wait always kills me, haha I feel like I waste hours watching them for any little change! I'm thinking I missed a heat too, but she is huge and started that udder soooo long ago. She carries her belly low, not so much out so I feel like the pictures don't show how big she is. It's halarious trying to get all 110 lbs of her on the milk stand because her belly always catches!

Last year I saw her roll over in the pasture, went to grab her and water broke all over me. No signs of labor 2 hours previous Eating one minute, kidded the next!
