We killed a big one that was stealing eggs. Paris about wore herself out "killing" it again and again. It was 5' long and she couldn't shake it like she does copperheads. She shakes them so fast and hard that they go to pieces.

Place chicken feed in rodent-proof containers, and allow a tray feeder for chickens to have access to food. Keep the areas around the coop clean and free from hiding places for snakes.
