.... then went to the chinese place and got some egg drop soup, some egg drop with wonton soup, some shrimp rolls and a seafood combination meal... I will get 4 or more meals out of all this. Which is the whole idea... I ate some of the egg drop/wonton soup... and realized that there is meat in the wontons.... D#%@..... ordered it automatically, and ate it without thinking... HOPING that the 2 wontons with the meat will not trigger a disasterously terrible response.... :smack:smack:smack:smack:smack:smack:smack:smack:smack:smack:smackDUMB....... I usually get 1 qt of egg drop and 1 qt of the combo, and it gives me enough to add more egg drop to the combo and get 5-6 servings of the soup. Guess the cats will get the couple extra wontons and I will just enjoy the egg drop soup.... I am hoping that I will only have some runny nose and coughing from eating it and not an episode of diarrhea... since there wasn't alot... :fl:fl:fl:fl:fl:fl:fl:fl of meat... I think it is pork anyway... Just was not thinking....
If I abstain from foods that trigger my allergies I sometimes can handle eating a little without experiencing more than a very mild reaction. I hope that's the case here.

Monday... started at 10 overnight... got up to about 39-40 on the temp thing on the explorer... 48 on the recorder at home but the sun hit it late this afternoon... 38-40 seems about right... it wasn't frigid but not warm either...
DS has had a terrible headache the last few days... the first appt with the specialist chiropractor did help it a little... but he lives with constant headaches... then we went to Rural King and got some stuff... did not have to "rush" today... got some feed for the chickens and grain for Maggie in the pen... DS found a close, out on some special oil... NOT SYNTHETIC..... and bought the last 22 gal jugs they had ... it was like nearly 1/2 price.... few other things... went by the lawyers but they were not there... went to the 2nd dr and they are going to do another injection in a month as it seems to be giving some relief down further in the spine... then I ran in to Chicken Salad Chic and got some chicken salad to bring home for sandwiches... and then came by the sale... They should have cancelled it because there were under 20 animals... this is a small stockyard but normally have 75-250 on average....so we came on home...
Unloaded all the jugs of oil, plus got some cattle blocks with the larvacide, Clarifly for the flies...trying to get ahead for spring time.... DS took a bag of grain for the barn, and one of the chicken feed for his birds... a few other odd things, some grease for the grease gun.....and I came home... Tomorrow I hope to get the "snow/ice" off the back of the flat bed and then get the feed over on it, to take to Snyder's to put in the cans there for the cow.... and the chicken feed out in to the cans for the chickens....
Going to do it when the ground is hard though...like overnight freeze before the sun comes out on it... AFTER the snowcrete is melted..... it will get muddy fast if it warms up like they say... so probably moved over on the truck or into the wagon/cart behind the mower in a few days.... as soon as the concrete hard mess is thawed/melted so I can get around without tearing everything up at the house... The feed for snyder's will have to wait a couple days until I can get to the other side of the barn to unload it into the "feed room section".... I can put the bags across the gate there... but trying to carry them across this hard slick stuff is NOT going to happen...
I still don't have the strength or "wind" to do it...

I did have a problem with the wontons... threw up about 3 hours later... coughing and stuff... so.....but then I could sleep so short term reaction...
Cats got the rest in their dish tonight.... soup part seems okay...

There was some melting today... some water on the ground in the parking lots and in the driveway at the barn... it is down to 29 so will firm up/freeze up some overnight... Supposed to be in the 50's PLUS tomorrow, little chance of shower... more rain possible on Sat. We need some moisture... but I hope it is not too much too hard or it will just all run off... Ground is VERY COLD and will not be receptive to alot of RAIN.... That is why snow is better this time of year... soaks in slow... but not this rock hard iced over stuff either...

Farm cancelled for tomorrow... he has done this often over the years when he used to test.......it's a pattern. I'm not going to bend over to accommodate him... see what my other farms want and then make him fit in...
Waiting for the owner sampler farm I dropped off the bottles to last week... to let me know he took samples... but that's a "whenever"... not pushed for him...
I did get in contact with a few other farms... got a couple scheduled...one on Thurs 12th, one Sunday morning the 15th... got a few more to send texts to tomorrow... Got the 500+ cow herd scheduled for Friday 20th.... another for Tues 24th.... spaced out which is good... some places to fill in around.....
Getting back to "normal life"....

Stockyard sale report for last Friday shows cull cows up in the upper 1.70's to over 2.00 / lb.... the feeder calves they had were high..... 4-5 wts in the $4.50-5.25 range... 5-6 wts in the upper $4-4.95 range...
DS has decided not to take the few 6 wts to the graded sale this week. He looked them over real good and said that 2 of the 4 have dropped some weight with the extreme cold... so he wants to give them a couple weeks of the coming moderating temps to regain some of that weight and round out again...
But we will go to the monthly bred cow sale and take the couple of cull cows....
I think feeder calves will be quite high the beginning of March....
DS is going to spend a good part of the day on Sat helping a friend haul hay... they are nearly out and he bought a guy out that had 150 rolls... DS is going to take some of it as they didn't want it all... DS said we would be better having "more" than "not".... if it stays dry, we will not be making as much... so get some extra now... he also bought some other hay, and it is in the farmer's barn... not a push to get it out yet...
It's supposed to rain on Sat.... I think this has been stored outside so not like it will make a difference to get wet...

Going to get a shower and go to bed....

Sorry to hear about the won ton reaction. Personally I am not interested in eating out anymore, it's just not worth the consequences if there's something added that I'm not aware of.

Allergies -- something I'm blessed to not have. But it's a real PIA for those who do. You don't have to consider some of the "finer" points of cooking & contents for most of us but, y'all do. Even oils they use to fry things, preservatives, flavor boosters. Yikes. I couldn't enjoy a cooked green bean with out bacon drippings! 🤫 Tallow, p-nut oil, corn oil, all commonly used and not on most people's radar. Those with gluten issues, nuts; another eating consideration. 😵‍💫 Dang. Eating is so fundamental to life.

MORNING.... It is the nicest promise of a morning in several weeks... 26 for the low... sure beats the single digits... The sun is out bright coming across the hill earlier... temps already just above freezing...
Got a load of laundry in the washer... the sun and warmth ought to soften/melt the snow so that walking will be possible in a couple hours...will do another and then hang them out to dry in the 50+ temps and be glad that I can get out in it.

Going in to make some breakfast... Probably do eggs again.

Yeah, @Baymule ... better to know . It's a PITA... BUT.... easy to find when I forget.... I have to laugh because I would be so sad and cry over what I can't have...
FOR NOW,,,,, there are worse things in life.

@Finnie , I did check the ingredients on the Chicken Salad Chick... don't see anything that should trigger it... Won't know until I try it... DS will eat it if I can't... be nice to just go in and get something for lunch...already made....but if not....I can make some of my own...

Eating out is not so terrible... just have to be very careful . Yep, I never ever thought that I would have to worry about what I ate or didn't... Always pretty much could just EAT. The only allergies that I had to deal with was the orchard grass at the beginning of haying season...

I am very sympathetic to people that have had food allergies...to deal with. NEVER thought about it. Like @Mini Horses said... eating is elemental to daily life... and I just ate...

The funniest/most ironic thing is... I was soooo sick..... but I was not actually SICK... my body was simply having the most severe REACTIONS to the allergies... all the antibiotics and stuff were doing absolutely NOTHING..... because I was not SICK.... I was REACTING.....
It was a real wakeup for me... HOW the body could react so severely, so intensely, to something that it was trying to "get rid" of out of the body....

Hopefully the sprays that work on the desensitizing, and resetting my allergy responses, will work... Get my cell electromagnetics back into their right balance... Then if needed , do the SAAT with the acupuncture to further ramp down the reactions to meat and dairy.

Getting things put together to have a NICE DAY in the warmer temps... Since I had planned to be gone most all day with the milk testing... I will take advantage of this switch in plans and get things done with the nicer weather.

Hope that all of us that have been in the grip of this ARCTIC FREEZE... will have a great day and the warm up gives us all the break we can appreciate...
