Had a really good day... It was SOOOOO NICE..... Temps got up to the mid 50's... over 60 in the sun...
The snow softened and was melting quite fast. The sun was great to soften the rock hard crust on top... and it was smooshy... very heavy to shovel.... But it is melting into the ground... There are puddles and the little rivers like
@Finnie mentioned... All the plowed paths into the cows are wet and little streams of water running down the hills...in the tire tracks.
I got the snow pak off the back of the flat bed truck finally... used a "grain scoop" type shovel to shove under it, break it off in chunks, and scrape, shovel it off... it was very heavy.
Got the bird feeders down, and got them all refilled... I also got myself another from the "village collection" ... Rural King carries a whole bunch of them. Not that I need them, but I like them... They are plastic and can be washed off with a hose, so more sanitary.... I originally got the red barn a couple year's ago ... it is the "big barn", as opposed to a smaller barn they also make... anyway... I also got the one that says "general store".... and found the red "lighthouse" one day at TSC... and then when I looked them up realized there are more than a dozen different ones... I wanted the "log cabin" one... they have a small log cabin and a large log cabin..... So, at RK I found a whole bunch of them... they are not cheap... $20 at RK... they were more at TSC but the one I got was on sale that day... so about 18 or 19... Anyway, they had the small log cabin, and the small barn, and one of the small cottages, and also the general store... BUT.... they also had a church which I hadn't seen anywhere else. Plus, they had at least 8 or more of the small log cabins, and only 2 of the churches... so I got the church.... I am hoping that maybe when we go back next month... DS has an appt in March... around the 10th or 12th... that they might have them on sale as the bird feeding season winds down... then I can get the small log cabin one I want...
So, I filled the 4 bird feeders... the warmer weather will cut the use down a little... had bought a bag of black oil sunflower seed on sale and got that moved to the porch... I had a couple other bags partially full, so mixed the seeds so they have a variety. I looked closely at the ground and they are pretty much eating all the different seeds. So that's good.
Then I had gotten 2 full loads of clothes washed... all the whites/socks and the flannel lined jeans and a couple other pairs... so got them hung on the line....
Went up to feed Maggie... it is MUDDY where all the snow is melting and it is sitting on top of the ground because it is still so cold... But it is sure melting... the water troughs were half melted so she had plenty of water I did not have to haul... Gave her the grain, and watched a little, then slipped and slid in the mud on top of the ground... and came out of there...
Talked to another farmer and wound up scheduling him for Friday afternoon... So, I am getting back to "normal"........ do I want to go back to "normal".... HA HA

So, I am going to get something to eat, Probably more of the chinese, so I can eat it and not waste it... did not have any real reactions from the egg drop soup, when I didn't eat the wontons.,...so that was good. Have some more of the seafood meal to eat...
The chicken salad has been okay for sandwiches so far...
The recording thermometer says it is 51 out there... it is after 8 pm. WOW... according to the forecast, it is not getting below 40 tonight... so it will continue to melt all night...
Temps are supposed to get back to more normal; 40's days and 20's nights, after tonight... Most of this snow will be gone in the next 24 hours by the way it is melting... especially if it melts all night... it won't be too fast either with no sun which is really good.
Got another NH pullet egg, and my langshan laid today too... I think that I can get the 3 bags of feed into the cans in the morning while the snow is soft enough to walk on it... before that section gets muddy... the feed for the cow can wait... I can actually take a couple buckets at a time up there, feed her and dump another bucket or 2 in the cans... if it is too wet/soft to get there... it was too hard, slick... now it is too soft.muddy, slick with the melting snow... from one extreme to another...
Hope everyone has had a good day... especially all the ones that finally felt the warm temps break our long cold frigid spell....
