I'm sooo sorry about your back!! I ruptured a couple of disks years ago & the nerve pain from that was unbelievable. Ice helped a little. I lived with frozen veggies stuffed in my waistband.
Great about the kittens though. They'll be much happier once you can let them into a larger space.

The way you describe the pain going down the outside of the leg sounds like sciatic nerve pain. I had that a number of years ago lasting for months. When I couldn't walk, the doctor finally gave me a shot of cortisone that stopped the pain. My sciatica does come back occasionally, but I lay down and put heat on it. That helps along with painkillers.

Pinched nerve or sciatica - OUCH! Take it easy for a few days.

Thank you to all for the sympathies.... I do appreciate it.

Got the clothes off the line and they were dry so glad I left them out. Clouds and sun but it hit 90 so good to dry everything. I nearly fell coming to deck as left leg was very weak feeling with the pain up the outside of it. Never had this type of pain.
Tried to stretch a little but not working too good.
Chickens in crates. One of the RI Red pullets is starting to lay... got this cute little pullet egg...
Nothing in trap.
Kittens in box for night. I want to get them into the shed and situated tomorrow if I can half walk. They are eating both canned food and dry kitten chow... using the kitty litter good too.
Meant to bring the other trap to the shed for the groundhog. Will try to remember it in the morning when I go let the chickens out.
No rain today but there is 60-70% chance tomorrow so I expect we will get it.

Going in to take a good hot shower... hope I can find a comfortable position and get more sleep than last night.

This too shall pass...

Do not lay on that side. Instead lay on the other side with pillow between legs (like when pregnant). I found that the sciatica eased up when I laid on my back with my legs drawn up and knees bent outwards. Don't know why but sometimes tht was the only way to get any relief. If cortisone worked for you on your ankle and knees before the replacements, you would be a good candidate for a shot. Painful because they shoot into the muscle or nerve but in a few days you are good to go again.

:hugs
