ALSO --- some of the GMO seed/plants have less nutrition (even with good soil) than old varieties. Timing & production vice quality nutrition. Esp true with grains. And let's not let processing off the hook -- store bought milk is prime example compared to raw. 🤷 Ok, I'll jump down off the box

BUT just know I use animal poop in my garden, no toxic chems on the farm and I drink goat milk raw.

Beeoootiful SUNSHINE and a very light breeze out there. BUT, my body say WHOA... you are NOT ready for getting too gung ho.
I went out, took water out, and put some feed in the feeders. I need to go to the bin and get some of the chicken pellets to bring back and mix with the higher protein "fresher" stuff ..... that means getting in the car and going down the road.... BIG UNDERTAKING when you have been as wrung out as I have been. BUT.... still feeling better.... well, a little..... :hide

Went to the clothes line and got the jeans all rehung, but the 4-5 shirts are still quite frozen ... it was 24 this morning.... so draped them over the line and will let the sun thaw them out... will go out again and hang them when they are not stiff.... brushed a little dead dry grass off the jeans but they are no worse for the wear.
The clothes in the washer are in the "soak" mode... means they are sitting in the water and knob pulled out... lid up... so they will not do anything til I restart it.,.. they were pretty dirty so need the soak anyway... I think they will wait to get run through to hang tomorrow.

But I do actually feel a little better... Clean air was good to get out in.

The plastic that I used some extra zip ties on, maybe on Thursday?, held real well in the horrendous wind yesterday.... chickens looked quite content. I meant to take another bag of leaves/grass from last year out to them.... Maybe later when I go back out to finish rehanging the shirts. Got some bread that I found some flies, like tiny fruit flies, in the bag and just said... nope... and some other stuff that they can pick through, to take out to them in a bit. The water fountains that I had filled in the warmer temps, on Thursday, had some ice but they were thawing, so they all will have plenty to drink when they finish the 2 small rubber dishes of water I filled.
Need to get some bird seed as birds have about finished all the stuff I dumped out of the bucket ... picked through it pretty good. This week will be much warmer... so they will not need it as desperately and no snow cover so they will be able to find what they normally would scrounge for in nature .....

So, I am in, recharging the little "energy battery in my body" for another short foray out in an hour or so. NOT going to push too hard with feeling a little better... but need to get up and moving some ....get the lethargy and the kinks worked out a bit.

DS called and said he had rolled out hay for Grants (behind me) and at snyder's (nurse cow pasture) and they were looking good. Grant's are all stretched out just lazing away,; can see them from the chickens and the clothesline.....He also wanted me to know he pulled the silage "cart/wagon" out of grants...in case I noticed it was missing.... took it to a guy to have some welding done on it... and then with the warming temps, would hopefully have it done to take to the other guy down the road to see about getting it painted... Of course, all this should have gotten done during the summer, but being "non-essential" to day to day stuff like haying etc... it gets put off, then it gets colder, then you push to try to get it done... and DS's problem is he NEVER pushes to finish things that he starts.... always seems that you need something else/parts /something... then get involved in something else and then it gets pushed aside... then you have 20 unfinished projects... some that are naturally "putter at when there is time", but many are things that should be put on the front burner to get finished in a timely matter.... and don't... then you are waiting and then gets to be a real rush thing.....and he will just quit and "go home" because she wants to go somewhere or go do something... or go away for several days.... and that is taking away from his getting things done like they should. He keeps saying he does not know how he worked a full time job and did this and I keep telling him that he just worked longer, and later... and that now he does not stay and do things straight... he quits mid day to go do things with/for her... and he loses alot of time doing that. He does not manage his time well and she has no respect for some of the projects that he should be staying there and finishing... instead of doing part of it and then doing another part another day.... If he put the time concentration into the farm as he did with working a full time 8 hr a day job, he would then have alot more time to "goof off" AFTER the job was already done...
BUT not my life...

Still blowing my nose alot... better than it stuffed up... the good thing is it is not like a running faucet... more productive and don't have to blow it 10 seconds after I just get done... Not coughing quite so much when awake either...
Think I am on the downhill side of this... just hope that the sleep situation improves as that is as much of it as anything... Not pushing but nudging myself along to get some strength/energy back...
And we all know that sunny, pretty, and not "frost your balls" frigid weather, helps alot with the mood and attitude... It is sooooo NICE out there even if it is not shirt sleeve weather...

Time to make a short trip outside again... clothes look like they are "hanging" looser, so need to be hung properly to finish drying... Might take car down to the feed bin and get that bucket of chicken feed... then I can mix and fill feeders tomorrow.....

So glad you're feeling better. Good that you're not pushing too hard. 💞

How did we ever grow our bodies without all these "pills" ???? Mostly because our food had more nutrition in it because our soils were more "fortified" and had more minerals in the soils...
This ⬆️

We're not getting enough nutrients from our food. My D levels have been very low for years despite taking a 50,000 unit supplement. When C19 arrived I realized I needed to get serious about nutrition. Since then I'm eating better food and taking supplements to make up for the difference. And when I eat real farm raised BEEF I feel as if I've been recharged.

In for the night but I need to think about some supper...

Went out, hung the tops (thermal type long sleeved T-shirts) on the line the right way since they had gotten thawed... took the 5 gal bucket and went and filled it with feed at the bin... will mix that in tomorrow and fill the feeders. Took a ride up through snyder's to just check the cows.... and came home. Not feeling as "weak" as earlier... Good sign.

Going to see about maybe doing some paper sorting, shredding... Brought in the mail from the mailbox here... since this is not my official mailing address, I get alot of junk mail here... had an armful from 3 days worth... still got a bunch left to do, trying to de clutter plus all that I just shove in a pile "for when I have time".... Got another 50 lb feed bag nearly full of shredded stuff.. for the "not yet brought home, new to me chicken coop"...... :hide :hide

Deb had left me a bottle of orange juice and sent a text that said she left it, earlier... I never heard the car, but it was there when I went out to hang the laundry up correctly. Nice of her... She definitely does not need to be near me to catch something... with the problems she has, and still nothing "definite" .... I do not want to be the cause of her getting sick. She had a bug a couple weeks ago and did not come out when she said that time because of it...

So I think I am going to find a movie DVD or something... and sit and do some more paper sorting or something that looks like I am being constructive...:bunny

Sunday, early afternoon.

It is a dreary grey out there ... they said mostly clouds and that sure is the way it is. Was 34 overnight and only up to 44 so far... Might see some sun a little later on...

I did not get to sleep very early and so slept late. Did sleep in bed although had some coughing to deal with that I finally seemed to get cleared up. Forecast for 45-48 but then tomorrow is supposed to really climb into the 50's and continue into the upper 60's... Then back to 45 ish by NEXT weekend...
Weather is crazy.

Did very little last night... no paper stuff... Just ate some bacon and eggs.. going to sit down in the chair and work on that for a bit.

Sunday night. Chilly , temp dropping more than last night... It got up to 56 but was mostly cloudy... had a little sun later in the afternoon... but not "warm" .

I spent most all day inside. I will mix the chicken feed tomorrow, just did not have the energy for it today.
Been doing some sorting, going through, and shredding more paper...off and on... but have had a headache all day. And got to coughing again late this afternoon... How does one nose/sinus make so DARN much crap to constantly drip and run and blow a thousand times a day?????

DS texted there was a new calf today... 15/L...mine..... the black twin that the longhorn had a couple years ago (the other one didn't survive)... was preg, slipped it, was going to rebreed her but she got over with the bull so "helped herself"... had a little TINY black heifer calf ... said it might weight 30 lbs... it is full term as she was due mid/end of Dec... said it was up and eating, acting good. She has 1 strike already... if she is going to have "mini" calves, she will not stay... But first things first, let her raise it up and see where it goes from here. The new bull is in that field, but there is little chance she will cycle and come back in heat before he comes out Feb 1st... We'll see... At least it is live and was up eating, not a weak little thing.. One thing, those longhorn calves are wiry, tough little things. The twin that died was because Jess did not want to take her, I had her in the barn and was going to bottle raise it... and it managed to get out under a fence board, and we got a cold icy rainy sleet storm and it just got too cold and wet and was dead when I found it... But I cannot fault her for not wanting to take the twin... cows often will leave one, and I think nature dictates that they keep/feed one because that is what they are designed to do.
So, anyway... she has had and raised every other calf she has had.... We'll see how L does with this little one... The other older cow in there had a heifer a few days ago... so now there are 2 there and the one at snyder's he moved up there, left to calve. Sure hope they do it this week while it is warmer... One of the 2 is a bought one... so have no idea of what she was bred to... The one at snyder's that's due to calve, walks slow and sorta "lame"... she will not be getting bred back so that is why she is up there... That makes 4 up there that will get sold after their calves come off.... No bulls so not as much chance to get hurt if they come in heat... another cow can ride them, but they usually do not ride as hard... yes, they can get hurt, but less chance.

DS is feeling rough this evening... he went to feed some hay and they still had a bunch from what he rolled out yesterday, so the warmer temps have cut them back a bit... they are back to picking at grant's there behind me... Same at snyder's, they are still trying to find stuff to graze when there isn't any... and they are not eating the hay near as fast. Which is fine... it's there if they want it...

He said he was going out to aug co tomorrow.. the "big " group of 40+ cows.....and was going to see if he felt up to setting up the panels at Bartleys, where the trees came down on the fence up in section #3... they are moved into #1... so they will be the next ones to get moved... then the ones from the farm near GF house.... but not for a few days/week at least ...
I am going to call the vet in the morning and see when the vet is going to be down this way... after Christmas at least...hopefully right after the new year... I think we both need another week/10 days to try to get over this crap we have/had.... besides the holidays inbetween...

I'm going to quit and see about some supper I guess... not real hungry, Maybe some soup. Don't have much energy this evening... hence not doing much...
