What's the current suggestion for snow in your area this coming weekend ???

Mine is bad. :duc:he 🥶❄️❄️❄️ 🥶🥶 how dare this!
Yesterday it was for heavy snowfall on Friday, slowing off Saturday and Sunday. Not it is for snow and sleet on Saturday and Sunday. Temps were 10 to 17 degrees all day starting tomorrow. Now those super low temps have been postponed to Saturday through next Wednesday.

Posted a lot that I have moved to my post. Sorry. I forgot whose post I was posting on!

Mostly snow, some ice.

NC is all ice at this point, hope they're wrong!

Wed eve.... I typed a whole bunch and then managed to lose it last night and I was too P.O.ed and wiped out to retype it so I went to bed...
To the diagnosis.... this is a B$%#H.... there are no treatments for it... no cure... it is something that may lessen over time.... but no guarantees... I am totally .... without words I guess.... I mean.... what can I say? Can't change it, got to live with it...
This explains the "unexplained " bouts of severe diarrhea.... no warning, nothing... not feeling "sick" just suddenly hits you then when the system is cleaned out... done.... the constant "itchiness" for no reason.... the backache, and various other joint aches that never ached before. The constant feeling like I am "winded".... The flu type symptoms without really having a flu... no fever... it was like they kept trying to find "more flu/cold" type reasons than to attribute this to a tick disease... They are pushing a colonoscopy to make sure there is not any problems with the bouts of diarrhea... yet I can pretty much pinpoint it to days I ate beef as I look back on it... I finally agreed to the newer mail in one, that you do at home without all the junk to drink and all that... but for pete's sake... LOOK at what I have been saying and what has been going on...
Then, she also asked about my having asthma as a kid... I looked at her and said I NEVER had asthma... but I am guessing that there is something in my lungs that makes her think I had asthma... all this shortness of breath for the past 6 months.... also listed on one of the alpha-gal websites....
I looked up the DO listings in this area... an hour in either north or south direction... but they all do VIDEO appointments... and I want an IN PERSON 1st time establishing a patient doctor relationship... and enough time to actually discuss my problem/situation.... There is a doctor that specializes in Lyme disease.... must have positive diagnosis, other requirements .... but I am going to call the office and see if there is any other dr around that they are associated with that deals in other tick diseases like this alpha-gal / red meat allergy stuff...

I am going to stay away from any red meat for the next month.... there is also documentation on milk and milk products.... from a mammal.... due to the carbohydrate/sugar that the tick infects you with in the bite... it occurs in mammals and ticks but not in humans....so by infecting the blood of a human creates an immune response... against "mammal" so eating anything produced by a mammal creates the immune response in the body to fight against it... the allergic response.
It is not known if I will have regarding milk... not everyone has the same "allergy" to the same foods... so yogurt, cottage cheese, regular cheese, butter, sour cream...ice cream.... anything made from milk.... might be a problem... I am going to take it slow with the milk products and see... not cut them out completely... but they could be causing some of the "flu/cold" symptoms... congestion, etc.... reactions to the "food allergy" triggered by this damnable tick bite...

There is nothing they could have given me when I found the bullseye... it is not affected by the antibiotics...

I had a breathing "bout" this evening and actually used the inhaler as I was having trouble getting my breath.... it worked... like someone that had asthma....

So, now to the rest of the day.... went to Sharp Shopper before going to Walmart to get the prescriptions... got bread and a few things.... went by the bank to deposit the cattle checks from a week ago..... then came on home. Ate some lunch and went to the pasture... fed the cow and all, took the sledge hammer I keep in the car, and busted the ice on the smaller water troughs there in the barn lot... then went down the hill and did half of the big water trough for the rest of the heifers... there were a bunch that followed and drank but they were not pushing... they had one little hole in it, so they were getting something to drink.

Today (Wed) was another cold morning... 14 and sunny but there was a stiff breeze again... seems like the wind constantly blows anymore... It got up into the mid 40's but was chilly.
Did the chickens water and will mix feed to fill the feeders in the morning, we will go to Rural King after the dr. and I will get more feed to use to mix for them, and sweet feed for the cow...

DS was not feeling good today... GF called here to see if I had seen him...I hadn't..... he didn't answer his phone...later told me, he had gone to the feed store and the bank because he has been having trouble with his debit card... then to his house and laid down for awhile and slept some... he was very disoriented and she called me back and said he was at Deb's and was not acting right and she had to go pickup the kids at school... so I went up there... he was really weird... and I think he is dehydrated... trouble focusing.,... and he could not remember if he had eaten.... He said he had to go feed and so I offered to go with him... we fed hay at grants behind me, he got the silage wagon and we went to the barn... then went to Wendy's to get some late lunch and I pushed him, to drinking more... these antibiotics and stuff he is taking do tend to cause you to dehydrate... I find that does it for me also... plus his head was killing him... but he seemed a little more alert and coherent after drinking a couple of refills of drink... I went with him to the barn, we fed some hay there... then went up in the back and fed a roll, and then went to the peterbilt field where the preg cows were, and fed them.... looked the cows over some........ came back to the barn, and I went to snyder's to do the cow... I used cannula's to drain her udder because I cannot get her milked out...little short back teats... I cannot bend over to do it with the back still hurting so.... don't want her to get mastitis or to stop producing... the one calf is doing good going on her whenever he wants and he acts great... I lost the one that he brought home that was down, tubed it but he never got up... the other had a cold mouth everytime I would give him a bottle... he had a rasp in his lungs... and he died when I was there in the barn trying to get him to come around... he was down out flat and I figured it was a lost cause... not surprised but sad... the one really didn't have a chance... but the other was weak but thought I might get him to come around... calf coats and all.... but he didn't. I need 2 more that are nice and active... "bouncy" like this one that is 2 weeks old... he is doing great.
So, after breaking ice again today, DS had said his plan had been to go to maybe get the 12 bred heifers in and moved today before he got to feeling so bad... he did go to the pasture, they all practically climbed over him getting in the pen when he fed some grain... so he shut is and came back to the barn to get the truck/trailer that he had plugged in... I got there to kind of check on him again, so offered to go with him... and we got them loaded and out of there in 15 minutes... we wound up putting them at the peterbilt field with the preg cows... rather than snyder's.... to calve them out in the spring.
They look really good....

Also, yesterday, he took the bull in to get semen tested... he was 91% which is pretty darn good... so he was not the problem with those 6, 1st calf heifers that had been open at the preg check... That's good... he can get sold... with good conscience as a breeder...

So after we got the heifers unloaded, he said he was going to feed the grain in the barn and go home...

Tomorrow, Thursday, we are going to his DR appt... I will drive.... he needs to get the adjustment, and the working on the head the dr does... no shots I don't think since he is not feeling good... but it might help his headache to get worked on some... then we will go to Rural King, he needs dog food as well as chicken feed too... then come home... He wants to leave at 10... appts at noon... in case of traffic... he said he is hoping to go to the barn early and get a few things done before we go... hope he is feeling better in the morning... he gets aggravated with himself when he has a bad day like today and does not get done what he plans to do... even though he does work slower than he used to and allows for it...
But we have to get ready for this snow... one good thing about getting those heifers home... only 12 left there that are with the bull.... he can take 2-3 rolls in there and will last for several days... so not having to worry about them for a couple of the worst days after the snow... and he can feed here near the barn with the tractor if he has to. He needs to get the tires changed on the one truck... the fronts are smooth and it's the 4x4 red bale truck....
I need to get some of the sq bales to the barn for the cow in the lot/pen.... so I don't have to haul any there in the snow... and get the feed unloaded on Friday.

Weather is calling for 6-12 with some ice/sleet... depends on where the track actually goes... They will have a better handle on the pattern tomorrow... there is cold air coming down from the north, but warm air coming up from the south... so if the warm air pushes up more... we will get less snow and more ice... The problem is the temps are supposed to be in the 20's and single digits for several days after, so no melting...

I should be in bed... going to try laying in bed and see if I can breathe okay... if not, I'll be back in the chair...

I don't even know what to say. I have been hearing a little about that tick disease. Not much until reading what you've written. I have no words at the moment. I really hope you and DS can get to feeling better quickly.
On the calves I know how you feel. It always stinks when we lose them. Timing is bad on top of it with you and DS not feeling well. Hopefully you can get a couple more healthy calves ready to go.
Great news on the bull results. Far more valuable as a breeder.

I'm so sorry Jan! Seems like the Dr that specializes in Lyme disease would be a good place to start. They could probably point you in the right direction. Since you have the diagnoses for the alpha gal, maybe that will get you in the door. I'm also glad that you're looking at a D.O.

An elimination diet is also a good idea. I know it won't be easy (I've done it myself), just cut out everything they say are triggers for a few weeks, see how you feel and then slowly add things you love back into your diet. One item at a time and see how your body handles it.

Praying for you! :hugs

This tick thing is life altering for you with the variable health issues it presents. Thankfully, some can be treated/handled.

The alpha gal thing -- no beef & you raise beef 🫨
No milk & you handle dairy cows....talk about damned!

Leaves poultry & seafoods...😞 Hopefully your body will adjust to lesser triggers :hugs:fl It's gonna be a long, hard 2026....
