Yep, got snow....maybe an inch, 1.5 at most. Not coming down now but a cold 29, feel like 19. Not gonna be gone in morn. . I did go get a load of hay in the trailer this morn -- so good with that! Since this dealer is only 7 miles, I don't usually try for "all winter worth" at once...more like 3-4 wks at a time. A little flurry about 2am, stopped & between 1- 7 we got this stuff. I was napping. But it's out there.

Did not sleep long enough last night, so had an unplanned nap (it happened!!) one for about 4 hrs. prob gonna mess up tonight, too!! I have a nice mixed drink sitting here to have in a couple hrs from now -- help me sleep later!

Yep, going to make a cup of hot choc with some amaretto so I can go right to sleep tonight. I ache from the last 2 days of in and out of truck with gates and all to feed all the hay... on top of all the chores...

As much as I don't like cold/snow, I would have traded you our dusting to give you a break.

All the rain will be freezing overnight, paved surfaces will be treacherous. I'm walking Caleb in the yard in the morning until it warms up.

Thanks @fuzzi .... BUT NO THANKS.... I will take our snow any day of the week.... NO ICE to slip and fall on.... I needed this "extra work" in some ways... I need to do more things like the feeding... just don't lay it on me this last minute crap, that he does... Plus, the snow will give us so much benefit with the slow melting down into the ground...
I need to be more "physically tired out"... I sleep better when I am "beat"... just not all this back aching crap....

Hahaha! It takes a snowstorm to make you stay inside and clean house. I’m right there with you, even if mine is only rain! Right now I could write my name on the dusty furniture, but I’d hate to disturb it.

Y'all do know -- I hope! -- that the days we're kept inside can also be "nap days", to replenish the rest were not getting! Right? I had one of those naps yesterday I'll admit, it wasn't planned but happened. Woke up with questions for myself -- where'd I been, where was I, what did I do ??? Yeah, I even called my hay gal to be sure I had paid her!! I had

It will be several more mostly in the house type days.... It was 16 overnight... a "balmy" 20 out there with temps maybe going to mid 30's today...but mostly cloudy.
They got the road pretty well plowed off to bare pavement last night...

Time for a cup of hot cocoa and some breakfast. Will go out to water the chickens in a bit...

We have already had more snow in the last week, than we had for several previous winters..... 4 inches in 2023-24....
whoops... no, we had 3 inches, then another 6" in Jan 2025, lots of cold rainy icy/snow/sleet combos with all the cold single digit temps this last Feb.... 8+ inches then another couple snows of 2 and 3 inches for about 15 inches total snow in Feb 2025... but the temps would be so up and down... 20's and 30's then 2 days later would go up into the 50's and we had more wind than a Kansas prairie..... SO... that means we have had more snow already in DEC than we had in Jan... and colder temps so far...

What can I say... it is winter.... and it came a little early...

Only couple inches here but 24* right now. Brrrrr

However just 30-40 miles NW, 5-6". Its not the snow so much as melt water freezing that creates issues. These windy, narrow, often shaded sections, that cause problems with controlling a moving vehicles over sudden patches of ice.
