I was wondering what type of feeders you guys use for your pigs. I am using these rubbermaid little tubes but not all the food is fitting in there. I was wondering what you use for the pigs after 150lbs?

Thanks,

I get the rubber feed tubs from the feed store, the ones for horses with the three metal loops on top made to hang them from a corner. I put a chain on one of the loops and attach it to the fence so I don't have to go into their pasture to collect feed tubs. Works great, and they are pretty indestructible.

hummmm....... thats a great idea!

I use the black bendy tubs and I built a wooden trough.... boar can toss the 70 pound trough around like a ball but its tough and unless its freezing or really muddy retrieving it isn't an issue. I just got my hands on 55 gallon barrels which I cut in half length wise for the gilt and her first litter.. put flat 2x6's on the bottom to keep them upright...... but they wouldn't last one day with the boar.... I can understand why some farmers use old iron bathtubs and I would if I could find one that didn't cost a fortune!... flip that around Boris! lol

I have a 55 gal plastic drum cut in half screwed side by side into a very heavy hardwood pallet. Our boar Wilbur and three of his 6 month old sons are eating out of that right now. Holds alot and pretty easy to fill. I use a 55 gal drum upright with a hog nipple fitted about 8 inches up for their water. Also up on a heavy pallet and chained to the fence. I use large rubber pans for Charlotte and the piglets. She also has a nipple fitted 55 gal drum in her stall. Hers is on the floor so the piglets can reach it.
