feeding cows?

i am about to get a couple of calves they are already eating hay. but my questions is do i have to buy feed? other then hay? i am raising them for meat what should i give them?

yes you should feed them hay an feed.they wont gain much weight on just hay alone.feed hay free choice.an start them on grain very slowly.an get their feed up to 1.5% of their body weight.
