this is more of a general question that reguards my sheep, goat and cow. but i didnt know where to put it so i put it here :p

i know some people have had bad experience feeding coastal hay to horses, but what about sheep, cows and goats? mine will usually turn their noses up at it and prefer the fescue, but i came across some coastal hay that i would like to get, and was wondering if anyone has had any trouble feeding this? (we didnt have coastal hay up north, so its a little foreign to me still)
i figure if theres no ill effects of feeding it to them all then they will eat it eventually once they realize theres no fescue coming!

I am supposed to go get some coastal bermuda hay tonight, for sheep and goats... as far as I know it is ok for both.
The question for me is: what kind of hay is their favorite ?
Someone told me that goats prefer mix grass...not sure what that is exactly.

thats what i am feeding my cow, sheep and goat - mix grass with clover. its not great looking but they chow it down.. i was mainly concerned if i had to worry about any kind of "impaction" like some people have happen with horses when feeding coastal. the fine hay doesnt get chewed as well and cant digest so it gets impacted in their guts.. just wanted to make sure this isnt a risk with a cow, sheep or goats. although i know the fescue and grass mix is their favorite they will have to get used to the coastal at the great price im getting it! otherwise they can get a job and buy their own hay

Don't know where you are located, but coastal is considered fine hay here in east Texas. It is so darn hot, not much else will survive. Bahia is also fine hay, it is brown and ugly looking, but horses tear it up.

I quit feeding coastal to my horses a very long time ago. Way too many colics. When I went to alfalfa, all of that stopped and I don't have to feed the volume that I did with coastal. The sheep are spoiled to the alfalfa now so they turn thier noses up at hay, lol. My supplier is going to try a vetch mix so I may give that a try.
