One of the East Friesians we purchased had been walking all wonky so I checked her hooves and she had one ugly case of foot rot and 2 not so pretty cases in other hooves. I've cleaned out the dirt and other stuff in the absesses, sprayed with fungicide and coated with hoof flex. I'll continue this each morning and night when I milk her but I had heard that some people simply have a shot of LA-200 and that too care of it.

I've never had this problem with Awassi, (which is why I went with them in the first place) but now that I have East Friesians I'd like to help them best I can.

I think I found where he mentioned having foot rot problems and the shot.
That shot is just a bit out of my price range at the moment unfortunately.

I looked at nuflor but the warning lable said not for use in dairy females so I assume it's not for use in milking ewe sheep. It actually never mentioned sheep.

Checked on draxxin as well and it's outta the price range too.

Excede is the same.

I also looked up Kopertox, it said not to use on animals used for food production. Don't know if the copper would be good for the sheep, either.

The lady we purchased her from used Kopertox on her. Within a day of her being at our barn she developed a spot on her hoof and the lady came and treated with kopertox. Seemed to do the trick but now I'm not really sure. I still have some and I might use it on her if I have to but I'm not too sold on it yet.

MAYBE your vet could give an RX for a much smaller bottle or even may have some on hand and you could buy just one or two shots. ?? Worth a try.

Says unknown milk with\draw on cattle. Would be similar on sheep but, no time know for either.

This med is used for lung issues....so are other things, esp sulfa drugs. Vet may have something along these line to use....even if more than one shot or dose.

Formalin on the hooves, Kopertox, keep her on dry footing and hope it doesn't spread to others. (Formalin can be use as foot soak on others to help hold of their infection.) Clean all necrotic tissue before you treat her...as you seem to be. Esp between the hoof halves, where it often starts.

I just now saw this thread. Nuflor is definitely off label for sheep and it is one of those meds not developed for hooves at all but our vet was familiar with studies around hoof hardening as a result of the shot. The two we gave the shot to were going to be put down if we couldn't get their feet under control. We got vials of Nuflor from him so we didn't have to buy the whole bottle.
