Getting a little nervous

USUALLY everything goes well. Expect the worst, hope for the best, and be prepared for anything to crop up.
(Edit: This makes it a lot easier to deal with something going wrong. If you've been expecting a hard delivery and everything turns out fine, you're not going to spontaneously combust because of the stress.)

I walked outside only to find my first freshener had kidded right out in the open without me ever knowing. The second first freshener made sure I was sitting down on the floor next to her before she got down to serious pushing. They know when something isn't right, and a lot of the time they'll allow you to help (if they were wild and normally wouldn't let you touch them etc). If they love you anyway, you have that going for you. :P

Relax, most of the time things just happen naturally, mum does her bit and everything is fine.

You will always find posts on here and anywhere else for that matter about things going wrong. But look at it another way, think about how many goats have been born ion relation to the ones that have had problems and the percentage I am sure is quite small.

It's only natural to be nervous, I have only had two kids born, and was a gibbering idiot, but things went fine.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Anything at all you are concerned about, post it, someone with experience will be able to advise.

What I did was watch a lot of youtube videos of goats giving birth naturally and with assistance so I would know what to do in case...

I read as much info as I could pack into my brain, and got advise from people on here.

The progress pictures kept me occupied so I wasn't driving my self insane lol.

I agree with everyone here most births are uneventful and happen with no problem.

Its rare something will happen but always prepare for the worst its better to know than to wait and see what will happen.

Good luck.

I watched some kiddings on that Marestar site, I'm sorry I don't have a link, but I should have mentioned that as well. That was really helpful. Does anyone have a link to that? My computer with the bookmarks crashed, but G and H Farms, what they have is a system where people with goats due to kid have goat cams in their kidding stalls. People from all over can watch, and if you happen to see a doe starting to kid, they like you to send them a message or call them so that the owner can go in and assist. They have a system where they show you which ones are due so you know what ones to watch. Sometimes the owner turns the camera off for one reason or another, but usually they keep it on and you can see them giving birth and see the people assisting. I hope someone reading this knows how to find that site, I was following a link given to me by a friend each time I watched it.

Hang in there!! More times than not, things go well. It's easy in forums to get worried, because "no news is good news" and you see a high concentration of people that had things go wrong over people that had things go great. Forums are not a good place to get an idea of what "norm" is... because they are GREAT places to get help and know what to be prepared for in the case of an emergency. :)
