USUALLY everything goes well. Expect the worst, hope for the best, and be prepared for anything to crop up.
(Edit: This makes it a lot easier to deal with something going wrong. If you've been expecting a hard delivery and everything turns out fine, you're not going to spontaneously combust because of the stress.)
I walked outside only to find my first freshener had kidded right out in the open without me ever knowing. The second first freshener made sure I was sitting down on the floor next to her before she got down to serious pushing. They know when something isn't right, and a lot of the time they'll allow you to help (if they were wild and normally wouldn't let you touch them etc). If they love you anyway, you have that going for you.
