So I found a lady on CL that has a pair of twin pygmy does that are 4 1/2 months old. We are getting one of them either Wednesday or Thursday. Will they be ok with our 4 1/2 week old pygerian buckling? The size difference won't be a problem will it? I've been looking forward to getting a buddy for BlackJack since his brother went to his new home over the weekend. I wanted a doe or two as well, so this works out perfectly. BlackJack has been getting a little spoiled being brought in at night so he isn't alone at dark!
We will still be getting BlackJack wethered when he turns 8 weeks. I figure if I want to breed the doe I can see about taking her over to my dad's billy once she is old enough and in heat. He has a gorgeous pygmy billy.
All opinions about the age difference being a problem or not will be appreciated. And yes I'll make sure to post some pictures when we get her once she is settled in. ;)

I would only let them be together under supervision for a while. You can set them up so that they can see each other (that buckling needs to live in the barn!) but the little one is safe from the normal bonking that will take place. In a herd environment, the little ones would get some protection from their mothers. We have to take that role when we bottle feed, so be a protective mama and let them work it out safely until the boy is big enough to get away or defend himself or play with her. It might take some time for him to catch up but the boys tend to be pretty rough and tumble.

Its just that right now he could be seriously injured by a well-placed bonk from a larger goat.
