Wassup! I'm talkinboutchickens, I'm originally from Backyard Chickens but I know that people probably come on here asking chicken-related questions, so why not join this forum too I guess lol!:D =D I'm from Southeast Michigan, and we get all sorts of weather here therefore I've dealt with it all- from lice to frostbite.
The only herd animal I have currently is a flock of 15 chickens, various ages and breeds. (I don't think they count as herd animals..Do they?) I have 5 years of experience with chickens, but despite that short amount of time, I have earned many awards for chicken-related projects in my county and state fair, including 1st place poultry skillathon, photography, and finalist for the Birds & Poultry Science state award. So I'm happy to answer most chicken questions!
In the future, when I get my own house on land, I hope to get cattle and swine, and perhaps other poultry as well like geese hehe. So basically, I will probably be on this forum more in the future. :caf My dream is to have a farm someday and to own a chick hatchery:jumpy

Can't wait to get to know y'all!

Welcome! You can call a flock " herd animals" 😁

Most here have poultry & other livestock. It's a pretty congenial group. Chickens are the gateway animal.
Thank you! And I'm so glad then that I can be part of another forum where I can help others!
:welcome from So Cal. Sheep and now only 4 (heat got one the other day) chickens for our eggs.
Thank you! And I am so very sorry for your loss, it's never easy:hugs😞

Welcome! A number of us here are members of both BYC and BYH. I think the consensus is that flock/herds are kind of interchangeable. I have my chickens, but want goats!

Enjoy.

BYH is a great place to study past posts, and learn about all the livestock. I studied here for several years before retiring and moving to a piece of land. I chose sheep and have learned so much from the members here.
