Check out www.arba.net, there's a list of breeders, local organizations, and if you click on the breeds page and then on a photo of a breed that you like, most will automatically send you to that breed's national association. Play around with it, most of us are affiliated with ARBA.

I don't know about Vermont, but in Michigan a lot of breeders use hoobly.com and bestfarmbuys.com to list their stock, you can also try there.

Pick your breed by what you want it for, there are plenty of meat rabbit breeds although technically most any breed could be used for meat. Some popular ones are New Zealand, Californian, and Satin, but there's lots more like Palominos, Am. Chinchillas, I could go on for awhile on the various breeds of meat rabbits.

Welcome, and good luck!

If you are 'just looking' at this point... You could also check out your local CraigsList postings. ( Altho around here it has mostly Mini Rex and Lionheads)

Try Googling for breeds that catch Your interest as well.

As Cattlecait said the ARBA site has loads of information.

Good Luck.

Welcome to BackYardHerds , I too came over from BYC.

And good luck with your rabbit project - I'm sure you will have no problem finding rabbits.
