I have read and used so much wise advice on this site and thought it was about time to contribute.

I live in the southwest corner of Western Australia near the town of Bridgetown. We live on a beautiful little farm of 80 acres. We have cows, sheep, goats, sometimes pigs, chooks, turkeys, peacocks, guinea fowl and a beautiful stumpy tailed red Australian Cattle dog. We also have a huge lake like dam that is stocked with marron, yabbies and rainbow trout. Yes, we feel we are living the goodlife.

Looking forward to chatting and sharing.

I had to google yabbies and marrons. They look a lot like what we have here called crawdads. They look quite a bit bigger than the crawdads I catch here. Crawfish down south get a lot bigger than here too. Maybe it’s the colder water. I bet they taste good.

Love the pictures! We live on 8 acres, sure wish we had a pond, even a little one! Your lake is beautiful. Our daughter and family have a Blue Heeler/Australian Shepherd cross, smart dog that loves the children. Your Red Heeler is a lovely dog. What breed of cattle? Those look like Dorper sheep, I have Dorper and Katahdin cross ewes with a registered Katahdin ram. I like your pig set up, do you raise them for market?

Glad you joined, welcome to the forum from Texas!

Welcome from VA -- USA. Love your lake. So peaceful looking! The rolling terrain adds to it all. Very inviting. And that dirt is so red....:D =D

It will be fun to have some more input from "downunder".

I suggest you go to your set-up & add "Western Australia" to your location. Often questions &/or replies have an entirely different meaning, or consideration, when we see where the question or reply comes from. :) Even our seasons differ. That seasonal difference is nice when we have snow and you have green!

Thank you for your comments and interest.
@MtViking
Marron are my favourite shellfish- rubbed with garlic, wrapped in thin slices of bacon and grilled on the barbie, yum.
@Baymule
Murray Grey cattle, Dorper sheep. Mainly eat the pigs, ourselves and our kids and their families.

Glad to be here
