Three years ago we bought our own mini farm. We've leased a farm for the last 8 years so we are familiar with our animals. We have 5 horses, 3 sheep (adding my new Ram Lamb today will make 4. Im excited!)2 ducks, 7 chickens, 7 dogs, 1 potbelly pig, a beared dragon and 2 hawks. (husband is a Falconer)
So sheep are my newest adventure and Ive had them a year now. I will breed them this year for the first time. (Ive had and bred goats in the past) Im really enjoying my sheep compared to the goats. I know everyone is different.Oh!..Did I say Hair Sheep(we are in the south)and one Sullfolk that Im going to cross breed with a hair sheep for a bigger market lambs.
Anyway excited to read everyones experiences particularly concerning sheep!

Greetings and welcome to BYH from NE TX! So glad you joined us. There's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. You'll get to "meet" folks at the same time. There are quite a few good Sheeple here. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Oh, and we all love pics, so post them anytime you feel the need! Please make yourself at home!

PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. I recommend at least your state as most folks won't be able to figure out where if you put anything more specific (county, town, street, etc) by itself. Old folks like me :old will never remember from this post & look there first. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down. You'll see the spot for Location. Then go to the bottom and save changes. Thanks! Hope you enjoy the site!

Welcome! I love my goats! BUT the animals that are the most dedicated to me and the most “loyal” are my sheep (also hair sheep). We always joke that when everyone is crying out, the goat are yelling “oooowwnnner” and the sheep are yelling “maaaamaaaa”.

Love that! We didn't hate the goats, we had mini dairy goats that we milked for a year. Learned our lesson about bottle babies not living in the house because they never go home ‍Lol.. They were passed to another homeschool family that enjoyed milking them too. The goats just got into everything and my sheep tend to be less menacing for now...but farm animals like to find adventures haha..

::hangs head in shame:: we bring our bottle babies in the house. LOL. However, in our defense, we use a porta crib and when they are too big for it, out they go to the “nursery” pen we built outside.

You said “another homeschooling family”, do you homeschool? We do and I always love meeting fellow homeschoolers.

hi Angelina, welcome to the forum from arklahoma. there are several sheeple on here, myself included so read all you can and if you have questions someone one will probably know the answer. or if you see someone in need of help feel free to jump in with an answer. I have lamancha dairy goats and katahdin hair sheep and I do tend to agree that the sheep seem to get into less trouble.
