We are new to cattle and will be getting 3 bred cows next week. Doing tons of research but one thing I haven't found much info on is the proper care of the cows feet. We've raised meat goats for the past 5 years and know from experience it takes a bit of work to maintain their hooves. Do cows get their feet trimmed on a regular schedule or only when the have something wrong with their hooves? And how exactly do you get a cow to cooperate?

Thanks in advance!

Cattle usually don't have problems with their feet, unless they are kept in confined spaces, like some dairy barns. Our range cows don't have any problems unless they step on something sharp, and then they get an infection in their feet which requires treatment. If your cows are allowed to be on a pasture, they likely will be fine. Good luck!
