We have been hot hot hot here... 105-110... So I've been making ice treats to put in their water.

I take a rinsed out gallon milk container and cut the top off. Add water and cut up apples, water melon etc... what ever [even just a plane block] and freeze them. By the time I get down to the barn they are warm enough on the sides to pop out of the container and into the water. Course I have to dump their water afterwords, but they have a grand time bobbing the ice and I enjoy watching them play. I also take just plane ice cubes down in a big bucket and dump them into the back of the mule at the barn...they all have a blast eating and playing with the cubes.
