I'm wondering how much grain I should give to my (maybe) pregnant soon-to-be dry doe. It seems like some people feed grain through the whole pregnancy and some don't start grain until two months before kidding. What do you do? Thanks!

ETA: She is a 2 year old Nubian and gets free-choice alfalfa hay, loose goat minerals, and fresh water.

I feed all my does a 16% goat developer feed.

2 measuring cups, twice a day.

Now my goats have the run of about 400 acres, with lots of brouse and sprouted wheat. I can see them right now galloping across the ranch. So, they get a lot of exercise.

They have just pasture hay, free choice, and lots of water.

Of course, minerals, loose, free choice, I use Manna Pro.

Also I have a Goat-20 -N protein tub in the barn.

I only deworm as needed. I do FAMACHA once a week.

Trim hooves once a month.

Kiss them all goodnight, every night.

Oops, TMI?????

For our milkers, we stop their grain to dry them out. They then stay on only hay until about 30 days prior to kidding, but depending on their body condition, we may start grain sooner. At a minimum, we dry them off about 6 weeks before kidding.

Our milkers get 1.5-2 qts of grain 2x a day. When starting back up on grain, we build up from less than half a quart to full ration at kidding.
