Insect Eggs???

The kids found these orange “balls” on the barn floor under the hay that’s loose from breaking open square bales. Anyway, there are easily thousands. I’ve never seen anything like them before and we can’t fhink of anything that we may have spilled or had around that they could be from.

Now I’m freaking out!!! I don’t want 1000s of ticks in my barn!!! Suggestions???

Shop vac? Dump in plastic bag, seal, dispose??

Yep, and the ones you see are probably just a fraction of the total. Different tick species have different color eggs, but those look like the common brown dog tick egg.
Pesticide with boric acid.

When they hatch out into the larval stage, they will be extremely tiny. Seed ticks no bigger than a poppyseed.

Major barn cleaning coming! I’m currently threatening to burn it down...not really but I might bleach the whole thing after I remove all my animals!!!

None of them appeared to have any growth...does that mean they are newly laid or the freezing weather killed them? Praying for the latter!!!

Takes a month or so for the hatching to begin. Incubation period is temperature related.

I would guess newly laid if you've had a warm spell of weather very recently.

The plan was to dispose of them tonight but DH got called in to work and I’m not up for that on my own.
