Hi,

I'm aware that marten smokes and siamese sable can carry rew "visually '.

Apparently, a double sable gene causes dark varieties.
But carrying a Rew gene causes medium shades.

I'm pretty sure my marten smoke pearl is medium not dark.
That means she carries rew?
It is that a myth that medium shades of sable marten have to carry rew?

Thanks,

The "alphabet soup" for a Smoke Pearl Marten is:
at_B_cchlcddE_ or
at_B_cchlchddE_

Two copies of the shaded/sable/light chinchillation gene (cchlcchl) is a Seal, an animal that is such a dark brown color as to look very nearly black, with somewhat lighter shading. The dilute version, the Blue Seal, is pretty close in appearance to a straightforward Blue. If your rabbit had two copies of cchl, she would look like a slightly odd Blue Silver Marten. Since she's clearly a Smoke Pearl, you can be pretty sure that she has one copy of the gene for REW (c), though the himi gene (ch) is possible (though unlikely, seeing how light her body color is).
