🤪 It's January again.
I've always wanted to start out with big dreams and all these plans.....
But this January I'm starting out kinda tired. No big extravagant or ambitious plans. No 'The Next Big Thing'.
I hope to actually get a garden in the ground. Maybe enough to can up some things. Maybe see if we can get Eva bred one last time. Who knows.
Most likely.... just check in every few days, read what yall are up to, post a funny story or two.
Will just have to wait & see what this year brings.

Society at large is very focused on chasing the next thing. Sometimes there’s a need to take a breath and enjoy what we have achieved and learned. The grindstone is usually around the corner for homesteaders. Enjoy a slower pace.

You have already done a lot of big things, including your job. It's ok to take a little time for yourself and not overload yourself with lots of projects. Put in a small garden. If you want to can something, go buy it in bulk at a farmer's market and can it all at once.

Sometimes the constant push makes us not realize what we ALREADY HAVE to enjoy.

The buy at a farmers market/produce auction to bring home and can/freeze is not such a bad thing.

I loved to garden, enjoyed the whole thing... but with the increased number of cows, we are busier on the farm during some of the "gardening time"...and then I get tired of what "doesn't get done".... Plus, just me... not as big a deal to put stuff up when I can also buy some of it at the discount Sharp Shopper.

Working full time as we get a little older just takes a little more energy and effort... another reason I am seriously looking at actual retirement... still enjoy my farmers, still good at what I do... I get tired out with all the get ready and then after testing packing samples etc.
Some of this is the constant feeling run down that I still attribute to the "getting sick" TICK bite bullseye that no one took seriously. I know that my mom felt the effects of the Lyme disease for years, and even DS has recurring bouts from his.... I still honestly and truly believe that this is a tick borne illness and I am feeling worn out all the time.

I have a list of things to want to do/get done... I just have to get to the feeling like I have the energy/ feel better and not so run down all the time... to accomplish it.

Working on that...

It's raining today & we need it.

I'm sipping from my bestest giant yellow mug & doing detective work online.

I've been wanting a percolator. I've been told it makes better coffee... and I tend to believe it since it's an 'older' method - compared to kcups & pods.

Yesterday I found a percolator at the thrift for $5. 🎉 It's missing the cord & the little glass knob on top. I googled the catalog number on the bottom & it's from the 1950's! ! The cord seems to be a fairly common replacement & I found lots online for $10‐$12. The knob took a LONG time to find 😞 &... IF the one I find fits, was $12. Even at a total of $30ish, it's still a bargain since I found a bunch of these online for $60‐$120. AND it's just a darling little thing.

Now that the coffee pot replacement parts are located, it's time to settle in & watch some YouTube. I signed up to be a Spark delivery driver. Since they cutoff our overtime a few months ago; bills are getting paid but there's very little for savings or anything else. My partner in the lab started doing it over her 2weeks vaca & made good money. As long as I'm still in the lab & off every Fri & weekend, I figure why not try it.

I used to have nothing but percolators. Mr Coffee came on the scene and blew the competition away. percolators do make the best coffee. I even had to ones that you put on a stovetop burner, no electric cord. I should've kept a couple of them.
