My dh used to sing the Pizza Hut jingle with a slight variation of the lyrics:Yesterday was one long comedy of errors.
Wed afternoon my trainee & I were discussing pizza.... and our deep desire for some.
I pulled up the Pizza Hut site & after a little more discussion we placed an order for lunch to be delivered Thurs at 11:30.
Then Thurs came. It was a balmy 70-something when I left the house..... in shorts with no coat or anything.
The morning went OK. We were told at the morning safety meeting that we had to be across the street at noon for a meeting in the conference room.
.... AT Noon??
Anyway, we were running a trial & needed 6 more mini rolls to finish. No problem.
Around 10 someone mentioned it was raining. I started whining about not wanting to walk a block down the street in the rain & were we REQUIRED to be at the meeting???
11:15 came, I checked on the pizza order. 11:20 a text came saying it should arrive at 11:40.
11:55 and no pizza yet. Temps down to the 40's, wind Howling & rain pouring.Someone had left a jacket hanging on the tool bench behind the Beamer, so I grabbed that for the walk. There are 'company' umbrellas by the door so I grabbed the last one for my trainee (also no coat)!
We still got soaked on the way over from the sideways rain.
The meeting was brief. Named the Employee of the Year. @Iron Cauldron Gardens it was Geo!!!!
On the way back there was a siren going off somewhere...... turned out is was the fire alarm IN OUR BUILDING.
No one allowed back inside. There we all were.... standing on the ramp & loading dock.... soaked.... cold... while the fire crews wandered in & out looking bored.
Then one of the managers brought up that 'per policy' we were supposed to be in the church parking lot across the street. There was nearly a revolt - but somehow, there we all went.
Oh.... still no pizza yet!!
We huddled in the door frames of the church for about 30mins until 'they' decided that we could go back to the conference room.
I'm texting with the pizza delivery trying to find out if they are coming or not & can they come to the other building instead because of all the fire trucks in our parking lot.
At least there is hot coffee in the conference room. No lunch for any of us yet.
My supervisor is still at the plant - in the parking garage of the loft appts next door. He texts about 1:15 that the pizza has arrived (finally).
About 1:30 they finally let us walk BACK down the block in the wind & rain. Lunch break!!!!
Then back to work... a couple of hours behind schedule now.
We finish the trial & start to break down the machine to set it up for a different product. Which was good because it's hard work & got us all warmed up again!
One thing after another... we did NOT finish getting it set up for the next product.. Luckily though, the snow had stopped and the temps had climbed from the 30's into the low 40's by the time we left.
So today I'm super sore from all the bending and twisting of the set-up & have a little bit of a sore throat. Dad seems a little bit miffed that I won't entertain him today.
Time for 2nd nap.

Media is going NUTS with the forecast of intense storms for tomorrow.
Weather 'news' being what it is..... I'm waffling between trying not to panic & poo-pooing it as the typical drama-drama.
Key words I'm hearing 'Chance of'.. 'Possibility of seeing' .. 'In some of our viewing areas'..
I'm wondering why this is getting more intense coverage than the usual buildup to our annual hurricanes??
Hope I don't find out![]()
