I don't think anyone makes the right amount - always a little too much. Must be the hidden Italian great grandma in all of us.Little too much pasta.

I have checked our garden several times the last couple weeks to see if any asparagus is poking up. Must be too cold still...nothing's happening.I had some in Lindale and the asparagus never made it in the house.![]()
You should've been leaning on your shotgun or maybe a big pitchfork!I just had a young man pull up my drive (it's a long driveway) and - after apparently seeing me look out the window - sit in his pickup waiving at me to come to him.
I stepped on the porch & he yelled that he had asphalt screenings.
.... so?
He asked if I wanted some.
I asked how much. He replied 'Not much, depends on how far it goes'
.... huh?
He asked again if I want some.
I asked again - how much.
He gets out, stomps a bunch of daffodils to come to the fence and repeats that it depends on how far it goes.
Then he remembers to toss out a per/yard price.
By now my 'old lady' tendencies have kicked in
.... you want me to walk out to your truck so you can try to sell me something I was not even looking for. You have put zero thought into your cold-call sales pitch. AND... you stomped on my flowers.
'No, thank you. '
He tries a couple more times to offer it, points out my driveway needs it, repeats the price & finally adds that he'll deliver, spread & pack it.
'No. Thank you.'
You probably should've started with the full offer. And maybe come to my gate instead of stomping my flowers.
I used asparagus ferns in my wedding bouquet. And the ferns are pretty when arranging flowers too.
Yup. Made me miss having big'ol barking & snarling Birdie around. You should've been leaning on your shotgun or maybe a big pitchfork!
SHEESH people. It's no wonder we all like "living out there".
Scam. It's a thing to tell someone they have "leftover" asphalt from a big job in the area, make them a "deal" dump it, barely spread it and leave. It usually looks good for a short time, then goes to crap. No prepared base, nothing done "right" and they are gone.I just had a young man pull up my drive (it's a long driveway) and - after apparently seeing me look out the window - sit in his pickup waiving at me to come to him.
