I did the tough love with my dad a few times. He was not technically living with me, but in his RV parked outside. When I suggested he go home to his RV he apologized.

Can you borrow an RV?

That’s what I was going to say.

After a while he will come back out. Although, if he likes to just sit and stare at walls for hours on end, it may take a long time before he gets bored and comes back out!

My grandmother was fond of saying that she was going to die. Always in the most pitiful poor little me, structured to make one feel as bad as possible. Master of the Guilt Trip, a tongue so sharp that she could peel bark off trees and leave them to wither and die, that was my grandmother. One day she went on her Guilt Trip and said she was going to die........ I told her, Grandmother, you have been saying that for 20 years, I'm starting to believe you now. (she was in her early 90's) It made her mad! She went into her scolding mode and forgot about dying.

BTW, my grandmother lived to 96.
