IS this even a farm? Canesister's 2026

I was just abut to ask if your dad was home yet. So happy for you! Just go get him the vacuum as a housewarming gift - probably easier. Now that he discovered the joys of Dollar General and the friendly saleslady, maybe he can cope!

Been a ridiculous 2-day shift at work.
From having to swing by & pick up my trainee (car broke down) to mopping up the mess that the other day shift left. Completely re-setting up the whole machine TWICE! Running 6 trials between all that setting up. Sneaky Plant Mgr doing his usual crap. Trainee getting tested... and failing because suddenly we're required to know complicated math formulas of the top of our heads.... which AINT happening when they get around to re-certifying me! Dyslexia & 12yrs of childhood math trauma is how I got my motto 'Don't make me math!'
As long as I was at the trainee's house & the kitten was getting big, seemed like a good time to go ahead & bring him home.
I haven't been able to reach my hay guy (haven't tried really hard), so getting that back pasture open has become a PRIORITY. This AM was the first chance is had to do it. But I'm SO SORE from all that twisting, reaching, crawling, kneeling, stooping, contortions, etc from setting up the Beamer that I just knew that if I didn't do it ASAP it wouldn't happen. So when I went out in my jammies to feed, I decided I'd better do it before I went back in. Not complaining one bit about getting soaked in all that wet grass 🥰.
8:30 & finally time for coffee, warm blanket (still no heat here), a movie & kitten cuddles.

Make sure that you are feeding high mag mineral so she doesn't get bloat.... she will gorge herself like all ours do when they first go out... throw her body chemistry out of whack and can bloat easily...

We feed high mag mineral for 2 + weeks before turn out and for at least a month after...

Rut-ro. 😳
She's got regular mineral.... no idea if it's high mag.
Anything I can add to her feed????
I've always kept baking soda available in the spring for that. 🫣 But didn't think of it this morning.

Since she is not lactating, the chance of something like grass tetany is low,,, that will cause bloat and they can go down... mostly happens in cows turned out on pasture with young calves... but any animal can bloat from too much rich grass...
Yeah, I'd make sure she has the baking soda available... and just watch her.

We never turn animals out on lush pasture unless they have a belly full of hay to help keep them from gorging themselves right off the bat...

High mag mineral is available at most any farm store... TSC might even carry it...
We have it available to every one for at least a month before turn out and for another month when they are out.. It won't hurt them... helps to balance the mag/potassium balance in their blood stream.

Ugggg. Mine went from a winter field with NO grass to a very lush larger field. Before turning them out, I asked the vet if this was going to be a problem. (He was standing in my barnyard) He said no. :he They have been out there since Friday.
