IT'S A SNOW-MA-GEDON MIRACLE!!!!!!

My Dad just called and said "Hey, if it's OK with you, I'll just come in up tomorrow afternoon. That way we won't have to scramble around in the middle of it if the power goes out in the middle of the night. Oh, and I picked up a whole pulled pork dinner & some sandwich stuff to bring. Anything else I should gather up?"

After all the times I've had to fight him to try & keep him safe and warm during these things.....
I gave him a short list of things to help his cat feel a little better. But other than that - he actually seems to be looking forward to coming up!

I was making the coffee & looking out the window..... and saw a HUGE HAWK IN THE CHICKEN YARD. He casually flew up through the fishing line net to perch on the memosa tree - that I PLANTED for the chicken's shade! I hadn't let the chooks out yet, so chased it away when I walked out there. I stood up the scarecrow & kept their scratch up close to the house & hung around for almost an hour. Didn't 'see' the hawk anymore so came back in.
THEN - as I'm typing this - a movement catches my eye..... Ditto (young hen) is ON TOP OF THE HEN HOUSE!!!!! On the very tip top!!! Flapping & strutting like she's saying 'Youhoo! Here I am! Brunch is served!'

I can't even figure out HOW she got up there. Geeshe.... my chickens are being hunted AND are being suicidal AT THE SAME TIME

Chickens can be such dopes..... Sad that the hawk has learned to navigate the fishing line... I am out of suggestions... right now that is why mine are totally contained.... get tired of the free choice cafeteria the da%#ed hawks think they are entitled to...

So far it hasn't been back
This morning, Ditto was back up on the roof peak. The wind was quite gusty all morning & a big came up and blew her right off!!!! I swear she did a backwards summersault on the way down!

Power is on! Coffee is brewing. I'm up, he's still sleeping. Chickens haven't come out of their house yet. Eva is looking pitiful... BUT is choosing to stand on top of the dirt pile instead of the woods, or the barn... so I'm going to assume she's OK too.
Only about 3" of snow. Now for the 24hrs of sleet/freezing rain.

How's things your way?? Has it finished there??

Apple Springs, Texas checking in! It's white with ice here. Power is still on, how that happened, I don't know.

That's always nice! Cold 22 and less than an inch of snow but I see icey crust on it. We're not done tho.
