I've been back on the Beamer for 4 days, and had a trainee all of those days. 🤣
I must be doing something right because they're testing her out of phase 1 & into phase 2 on Friday. 👍
I'm supposed to be off Wed & Thurs but my supervisor just texted & asked if I'd come work in the creel Thurs. I reminded him that I haven't done that in well over 6 months & that I'm likely to be more of a hindrance than a help. He said he'd help me 'knock the rust off'. With that being an extra 12hrs of overtime on top of a 48hr week.... just too good to turn down.

Not much going on farm-wise.
The 3 mutt roos from this summer's hatch are terrorizing the hens so bad. 😠 In a bit of a rage-fit, I had tossed them over the fence one night when I found 4 soaking wet hens hiding under a bush instead of going in the coop. 'Let's see how you like fighting for your life!'
The next day dad called to let me know that 3 of my 'chickens' were outside the pen, but he opened the gate & they all eventually went back in. 🙄 😂
My 'plan' had been to gather up all my processing supplies, catch them tonight & process first thing in the morning. I guess my supervisor just bought them a 4-day reprieve.

Chaos was restless & chatty last night. With the recent issue, that's got me on alert. I'll watch him closely this evening. It's likely he was just bored - he happily attacked any toy I offered.
Supposedly there will be a check on the way for the waste heater damage.
They denied most of the floor damage because it was caused by a pipe under the house. However, he's opening a 2nd claim for that & all of that should be covered under that one.
Let's hear it for overtime!
:celebrate

How're the repairs coming along on your dad's house?

And how's Chaos?

In the house I had in Livingston, all the pipes were in the ceiling. I had a separate policy for water damage for that. Sure enough I came home one day to water running down the street, flooded inside and caved in ceilings. It was a mess. I don't recommend that for anyone.

Whew!!!! 72hrs. That was a tough run.
I'm taking a day off today (as much as is possible).
@fuzzi made a post about how great her bantams are laying. I'm getting a BUNCH of lovely (little) green & olive eggs.... and an occasional regular sized tan egg. Those little ones must be coming from the little mutt hens. Which makes me want to keep their daddy Christopher Owen around! I love a multi-colored egg basket. The Breese are supposed to be laying tan eggs. They're also supposed to have clean legs but 2 have a thin line of feathers... sooo maybe colored eggs too? 🤷‍♀️
Made omelets for breakfast & egg salad for lunch. 😂

The roos got another reprieve. I'm soo tired & sore that I just couldn't get moving early this AM. But I "remembered" that I've got a 10x10 dog kennel with a chain link roof from Birdie. I think they're going to get moved in there tonight. The hens deserve the peace.

Hay guy is maybe coming today, so I've got to get out there & clean the hay wagon.... set up the ratchet straps.... fluff up the last bit of hay so Eva will clean it up before I roll the next bale in.

"Day off" she said!

Glad your BYM gals are giving you eggs. The Breese don't sound as appealing as they've been touted. And yippee for Cockerel Camp!
