Today's egg haul.

I spent over 10mins chasing little Ditto (the roof walker) & Bunny (sister) around & around & around the coop. They would rather be anywhere than in the coop with those roosters.

The boys are in rooster jail.
I remembered that I have Birdie's old kennel
Chain link walls & roof.
Shoved a big plastic veri-kennel in there for shelter. They'll probably sit on top.... but I need to provide it.
There was such a sense of peace in the coop this morning.

In 2024 one broody hatched out 5 eggs...all were male. After I took four of them to auction the coop was so peaceful, calm.

The fifth one I kept, and he became Zaccheus, my current head roo.

Dad is still here.
Work has FINALLY begun at his house!!!!
No floor in the utility room. Half the dining room floor gone. All but the bathtub is gone from the bathroom.
Apparently I did too good of a job on the ugly 80's-green living room carpet. Doesn't need replacing...... THAT was the one thing I was hoping for .

He's bored. He's frustrated. I'm TRYING so hard to not take all his little jabs about my 'farm' personally.
My sister is still refusing to be involved in any way. Her solution to all the stress & frustration I'm feeling...?.... 'I'll come down after he's gone & stay with you. Well have a wonderful, relaxing weekend'
NOPE.

I've GOT to clean house this morning. There's a mysterious funky smell in here. Then some errands to run - dump, feed store, local produce market. Then I'm looking forward to getting some work done in the yard. There's a whole winter's worth of down branches AND all of this fall's leaves still on the ground.

Once your dad gets back home, you will want total PEACE and QUIET and NO COMPANY for awhile...
Stick to your guns when that happens...

Forget about the green carpet... it's his house, not like you will have it under your feet everyday all day.... and if you blow up over the jabs about your farm, it is NOT the end of the world...

20yrs ago - when I started working in the sound booth at church - Dad constantly complained 'I don't understand why the old hymns aren't good enough anymore! Just gotta have all that booming & banging (drums)'.
He always waits in the vestibule until the music is done before going in the sanctuary.

Today he's crying his way through a very loud Chris Tomlin concert (on TV) while I clean.

If he stays another couple of months I'll have him wearing skinny jeans & using an iPhone!

My AD HD'ed & the house cleaning took about 9hrs!!!!
I INTENDED to take out the trash, clean the bathrooms, wipe down the kitchen & run the vacuum.
I did that..... aaaand hung quilts, blankets & afagans on the fence to air-out. Cleaned out the bottom cabinets that hid the hord of mismatched plastic storage containers - matched up lids. Anything that had a product name on it (sour cream, cottage cheese, etc) got tossed.... lid or not.
Trimmed up the nearly dead spider plants & ponytail palm that were supposed to winter in front of the guest room window; but have been in the dark guest bath tub since Jan 22. After a good watering, they've found homes around the house. I figure if the cats eat them.... they were almost dead anyway
Washed sheets & remade beds. Unwinterized the air conditioners.
Cleaned out all the leftovers in the fridge. Went down to T.Supply & picked up more pelleted stall bedding so that I could strip the litter boxes, wipe them down, baking soda the bottoms & completely refill with brand new clean pellets. Took the covers off of all the sofas & easy chair, deodorized & fluffed in the dryer, & put them all back on. Washed dishes half a dozen times. Descaled the coffee pot.

Yard work is going to have to wait till tomorrow. I'm tired.

At least progress is being made on your Dad's house. You don't have to live on the green carpet, so be it. And you channeled all that pent up frustration into cleaning house and now it is fantastic to see and smell the results of that. I see a win-win here.

First yard work of the year!!!!
I got one of my hay tarps FULL of branches hauled to the burn pile. Got the path through the Piney Woods raked. All those leaves/pine tags mower-mulched & added to the compost pile. Added a nice layer of branches to the little dead-hedge wall. Cleaned up the feedbags, busted nest box, empty treat containers , all the rest of the trash that's collected near the chicken's coop. Then switched out the winter water pan for the summer bucket & cups. Mowed around Mom's yard swing.
When my hip got to hurting real good, I stopped & sat near the chicken coop with ice water. Dad actually joined me for a while .
Lunch, then a little prep for lunches & laundry for the next 2 days at work.

Maybe spaghetti squash with ham & Alfredo for dinner
