BALMY 4 degrees to start..... BUT.... it is supposed to be much less windy, and warming into the upper 20's and low 30's today...
Then 40's tomorrow and maybe low 50's for Tues/Wed.... anything above freezing will be like springtime weather...
When I had 20+ farms, and was testing full time, I didn't have alot of days to miss due to weather... but NEVER was in the "HAVE TO" go test position... I had 2 slight accidents many years ago, going to test, with slippery roads... and I told all my farmers then, YOUR COWS are NOT WORTH DYING OVER....
Did have to call a couple times at 2-3 in the morning, and have the farmer go and take the milk weights for their 2nd milking, when I got up and it had snowed or iced up more than was forecast and I decided NOT to go back for the 2nd test... but we had talked about it the evening before...
Even when I was milking cows full time, I always let the farmer know that I would call if it was real bad as I did not need to be in a ditch, or worse if the road was bad... I also grew up driving in snow so I was not as likely to not go to work as it did not bother me to drive in it...
Here in Va we tend to get more ice/sleet combinations and roads can be much more treacherous... AND people in general are much STUPIDER about driving... 4 wd and all wd seems to make people think they can just go anywhere, do anything... and drive at the same speeds as a completely clear road...
