35-40 mph howling for half the night. Loud! But the "dry" system weather czars mentioned did flow in to area just north of me. Lessened the snow to just a scattering about 100 miles up and held off the heavy hit here. Haven't been out but looks like a solid 3" +/- and that is way better than 6+ 😁👍

The extreme cold is still here -- 18 with 15mph winds, yeah single digits feel. No one is moving around. Just looking at the outside of their barns😲 waiting, wondering.

I am thankful to have power, running water and a warm house. Well here, so power outage is water outage. House smells of lovely fresh brewed coffee and I'm enjoying a cup while trying to rationalize the challenges of chores to come. 😵‍💫 It might be the only pleasure I have today

24 degrees here today! :celebrate Icicles are dripping. It looks like the chickens are drinking melted ice while they wait for me to bring hot water. The dachshund didn’t freeze his feet when he walked through the snow this time!

Some ill-advised stranger in a small Toyota sedan came down our driveway this morning! My husband’s pickup can do it no problem in 4 wheel drive. My friend’s 2 wheel drive Ford Explorer police cruiser made it. But I haven’t felt comfortable trying it yet in my minivan.

We thought maybe it was a delivery, but they never got out of their car. Just turned around and sat there for a while. (Probably checking their GPS.) Then they started down the hill very slowly. I didn’t think they were going to make it because we know you have to get a running start to get back up the other side. They stopped halfway down. They must have gotten up their courage because they started going again a little faster this time. They almost slipped off to the left. They were going so slow that I really didn’t think they had enough momentum to get all the way up, but they made it!

I should have kept watching to see if they went into my next door neighbor’s driveway. A lot of people turn down the wrong driveway between the two of us. Well, at least now I know that my minivan can make it out!

Virginia is for Pasture Farmers!
2F at night. It snowed a few inches, then icy snow that has turned all land into an ice rink. Lol
My pond is frozen 8in thick.
Monday & Tuesday, supposed to finally be above freezing & jump into the 40s. I need it all to melt away!
Edit to add, yes, it's holding up 900# pony!

It's like that here too... cows not going through the crust/surface.... some places the 4x4 truck was not going through the snow/ice... I call it "snowcrete" since it is iced snow that is harder than concrete....
Like the things on your boots...What's the name ...??? Looks like something I should have...
I managed to enlarge the pic... Where do you get them??? They look like a really smart thing to have

I saw some of those when I was Christmas shopping. Almost bought them for my husband, but I wasn’t sure how they would work. Plus, if he could use them, he probably already would have bought them. The name escapes me…
