We just moved the goats to a new pasture with board fence because my wether had decided that my new AGH pair were fun to butt. The board fence has 2 strands of high-tensile wire - one about 4 inches off the ground and the other between the middle boards of the fence - and we attached a 10 AC box to it to keep the goats in. We've tested the hot wire with a meter and it's pushing between 9.6 and 10K. The goats only hit it once before quickly deciding there was no escaping! My 2 Nubian does are due to kid this spring and I'm wondering if there's any danger to the kids from the hot wire, especially since it's running such a high voltage. I know the recommended voltage for goats is 7-9K any way, but I want to make sure ahead of time.

Nope, that's how it should be. Train'em right when they're itty bitty with a good hot fence and you'll actually have far less problems down the road.

My fence runs almost as hot as yours and the kids only hit it a few times before they learn. It sounds like they are dying when they do it, but it gets the point across and they don't challenge fences.
