I should read American Bee Journal more often...

They were writing about the honey crop in CA or the lack of one and the drought. Then they went on to say that while there were wildflower crops like star thistle and rag weed, etc. the flowers most likely would have no nectar for the bees because of the drought. They would have pollen, but no nectar. I had no clue that would be the case.

None of my 4 hives had any honey this year that I could harvest and they are all in different parts of the county. 2 of the hives I lost, just poof, gone. Maybe they left because they had no honey and they knew they couldn't survive ??? No brood either. I wasn't feeding, I retrospect I should have been.
