What are the differences between the two. I know that the Alpaca was bred more for its fibre and that it is smaller than the Llama and that the Llama was bred more for being able to carry loads and for meat. So what are the other differences. I would imagine that both are very cold hardy as they sure have a nice coat that can keep them warm.

You have pretty much described all the differences. Size being the biggest difference. Also llamas have banana shaped ears and alpaca ears are straight.
